Alliances have been named "dangerous liaisons" by Peter F. Drucker and if not done well this classification is right. Ad-hoc alliances have the tendency to fail miserably. But it doesn't have to be! Alliances that follow a structured approach on average reach a 80% success rate! "A structured approach" might sound boring and cumbersome, its not!
