How do we improve learner's reading abilities in our schools? The following are strategies on how to do soo. 1. Creating exciting and innovative reading corners in each classroom to encourage enjoyment of reading. 2. Inviting highly skilled volunteers (parents, grandparents, governors, retired teachers, community champions) to hear readers individually. 3. Registering each child at the local library and having them attend the library twice a half term to choose books. 4. Monitoring reading across the school and holding pupil progress meetings each half term for intervention and challenge. 5. Providing Book Reading Partners (BRP) for a pupil in each class and training all teaching assistants (TAs) to lead BRP. 6. Developing comprehension skills through key questions in pupils' individual home reading records and encouraging parental involvement. By Deborah Bunyali 📖❤

it is so important to spread awareness of the current state of ECE for community providers....
“On some days we have had as many as 12 classroom staff out which means our front office staff are covering to maintain our adult to child ratios. This negatively impacts our overall program quality as these staff are pulled from other work. Having highly qualified staff as well as qualified substitutes is crucial to providing early education for children and families in our community.” - Theresa Gilson - Director of Salida Early Childhood Center Sign up to support in Early Childhood classroom: bit.ly/ECServiceCorps

Full-time substitute teachers can make between $31-68k annually, but again, this range is greatly affected by a number of outside factors, such as where you are substitute teaching. Keeping that range in mind, you’ll have to consider your average annual expenses and whether you’ll have to seek out additional work during the summer months when school is out of session Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e_qZxqft
