CBRE’s 2024 European Logistics Occupier survey is now live, some interesting highlights below. ▪️58% of occupiers plan to expand over the medium-term, while a third expect their footprint to remain the same. ▪️40% of occupiers believe 25% to 45% of their current portfolio will be obsolete by 2030, if there is no significant investment in upgrading it. ▪️68% of respondents believe near-shoring will have a significant effect on Europe’s logistics take-up. ▪️Cost escalation is the top challenge for occupiers, both in terms of real estate (rent) and broader business factors (energy and labour). 🚨 CBRE 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 🚨 CBRE surveyed over 100 of Europe’s largest logistics occupiers from all sectors, with an estimated total footprint of 85-95 million sq m. Some key findings: 📈 Medium-term expansion is anticipated by 58% of occupiers, while one-third foresee no change in their operational space. 🏚️ 40% of occupiers predict that without substantial upgrades, 25% to 45% of their current facilities will become obsolete by 2030. 🌊 68% of survey participants expect that near-shoring will notably influence the take-up of logistics space in Europe. ⚡The primary concern for occupiers is the rising costs, affecting both real estate (rent) and other business aspects (energy and labour).
