As we head into the end of the week, I always think of the many cleaners that are either finishing the week or have cleans to be performed. And like Rosie in the video, the question I ask is - are the cleaners getting treated as they should be? Yes, the impression in the video is of a gig worker, and the first impression that comes to mind is an Uber driver, or maybe a DoorDash delivery person, but what if I told you that the Fair Work Commission changes, due August 26, 2024, class cleaners as gig workers in Australia. Why? Because most cleaners are underpaid, mistreated, and incorrectly classed as contractors (over 80% percent of the cleaning industry operates like this - Sham Contracting) when they actually employees. So I ask you, if your cleaners, like Rosie are trying to earn a living, but getting to some payment that equates to $7 per hour, do you think this is fair? There is a solution - for everyone to accept that all workers deserve to be paid correctly, even if this means that the cleaning costs will go up. And just like Rosie, when she sees an opportunity to get a well paid job, where she is treated well, we get cleaners approach us. Cleaners hear from their relatives, their friends, and our current cleaners about how we treat our team, and contact us, asking how do they get a job with us. And to you, what is the outcome? A cleaner that is so appreciative to have the job, so happy to at last be paid correctly, so happy to have the training and support, they do their ultimate best to deliver to you, our clients and us, the best standard they can. So as we all end a week, I ask for some thought to be given to the Gig workers - the ones that work the hours most of us don't like to even think about working, and ask are they being treated fairly?
Rosie starts a career that's Built to Last

Cheering students on in the world of banking! | University Recruiting Coordinator @ First Financial Bank
I ❤️ my job I often think back to my first job as a hostess at Texas Roadhouse. Standing at the host stand, I learned invaluable lessons that I still carry with me today. Every job is valuable!!!! You are always learning things that you will take with you to your next job. Here are some of mine from Roadhouse. ➡ Creating a positive environment Whether at work or in personal interactions, Texas Roadhouse taught me the importance of being warm and welcoming to everyone who walked through the doors ➡ Starting conversations with strangers I grew my skills in networking, ensuring that even a brief 5-10 second interaction could brighten someone's day. Still something I am striving to work on and improve to this day. ➡ Upselling There were always fun promotions and competitions. Upselling is definitely a skill that has proven useful in various professional settings. One memory that stands out is the back of our work shirts, with the words, “I love my job.” While I didn’t love every aspect of the job—sweeping mounds of peanut shells at the end of the night wasn’t my favorite—the shirt served as a constant reminder to approach work with positivity. When you show your customers that you love your job, they are more likely to love your company too. And let’s not forget those irresistible Texas Roadhouse rolls! Indulging in them during shifts was a perk, although our waistlines might have a different opinion. #firstjob #customerservice #careerlessons #positivityinwork

Providing a range of cleaning services to domestic and commercial clients in the North Tyneside area | Director at C.E Cleaning
🌟 Embracing Change and Building Dreams: My Journey 🌟 Reflecting on my career journey always fills me with gratitude and a sense of wonder at life's twists and turns. It all started in the dynamic world of retail, where I honed my skills and passion for customer service. My time at Marks And Spencers was truly transformative, as I navigated various roles - from managing the bustling cafe to overseeing cash operations and delving into the intricate world of HR. Along the way, I had the privilege of meeting extraordinary individuals who left a lasting impact on me. However, life had an unexpected turn with the arrival of my first bundle of joy, Charlotte. Parenthood reshaped my priorities, prompting me to seek a more fulfilling balance between work and family. With the arrival of my second child, Ellie, and my husband's job taking him away often, I found myself juggling multiple hats with grace and determination. Amidst these changes, an opportunity arose to join my auntie's cleaning company, a business she had nurtured for over two decades. For nearly four years, I immersed myself in this venture, learning the ins and outs of the cleaning industry while cherishing the flexibility it offered. Then came the pivotal moment - the decision to embark on my own entrepreneurial journey. Two and a half years ago, I took the leap of faith to establish my own cleaning company, C.E Cleaning, here in our beloved North Shields. The path hasn't always been smooth, but every challenge has been met with resilience and unwavering dedication. Today, as I reflect on this journey, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunities, the lessons learned, and the incredible people who have supported me along the way. Indeed, life is full of surprises, and I've come to realize that embracing change is the key to unlocking our true potential. I wouldn't trade this journey for anything in the world, for it has led me to where I am today - pursuing my passion, building a thriving business, and cherishing every moment with my family. Here's to the endless possibilities that the universe has in store for each of us! www.cecleaning.co.uk info@cecleaning.co.uk 🌟 #EntrepreneurialJourney #Gratitude #CECleaning #cleaning #cleaningservices #journey #cleaningindustry #retail

Kristen Craig, our Warehouse Supervisor. has been working with us for 2 years and is a valuable team member at PGL - we asked her a few questions about her time with PGL so you could get to know her a little better: What's Your Favorite Product? My top pick from PGL's extensive product range are the fabulous washi tapes. I've utilised them in various DIY painting projects at home, and they've proven to be the perfect tool for the job. What Do You Love about PGL? The standout feature of PGL for me is its incredible team. Surrounded by supportive and cheerful colleagues, there's a fantastic camaraderie that makes work a place I love to be. Laughter is a constant in our vibrant workspace, and the collaborative spirit is very uplifting. Tell Us A Little About Yourself: Outside of work, I cherish moments outdoors—whether it's embarking on bush walks, seeking adventures, or enjoying the beach with my 11-year-old daughter. In quieter times, you'll find me engrossed in a good book or captivated by an enthralling TV show. Opportunities Unveiled at PGL: PGL gave me the opportunity to work in an office job initially, which I hadn’t done before. After realising that customer service was not for me, PGL not only moved quickly to allow me to move back to an area in the business I love but also to move up to a supervisor role. PGL sees your strengths and provides all training and resources to help you move up the ladder within the company. #PGLGroup #PomonaTapes #Danco #Intro #PGLInsights #TeamCulture #WorkplaceJourney #PGLExperience #CareerGrowth #EmployeeSpotlight #CompanyCulture #TeamCollaboration #WorkLifeBalance #ProfessionalDevelopment #WorkplaceAdventure #OutdoorEnthusiast #PGLFamily #EmployeeSuccess #CompanyValues
