An exciting start to the week at CCE Design Associates! This morning, our team had the honor of participating in the groundbreaking of Bubbling Springs Park. Located in the city of Port Hueneme, this project will offer the community a variety of improved features to enjoy at the park, including enhanced lighting in the current baseball fields, new lighted soccer and football fields, a new dog park, and accessibility improvements throughout. We are eager to see the completed results and grateful for our part in this project with Lauterbach & Associates, Architects, Inc.

Allston to rival Kendall square? Not for a few decades for sure! While Allston is obviously a long way behind Kendall, Biotech's are looking for alternative locations with more affordable rents with comparable accessibility. Most likely decades away from being anything close to Kendall square there is still a need for affordable rents with access to services, public transport and the scientific community. This brings about the question of what is the most important factor for locating a growing Biotech, should it be access to talent, price of rent, accessibility etc. The answer is likely a combination of all three. I have worked with clients in the past where cost was the biggest factor for location and this has left them with significant hiring challenges. #boston #biotech #kendallsquare

9 years ago, a group of dreamers in Santa Fe, NM cut this bus in half and stood it vertically inside of an abandoned bowling alley. This was the first thing installed for our House of Eternal Return project, Meow Wolf’s first permanent exhibition as a company. One day in 2015, I got a message on Facebook from a friend who said “I have an old bus, could Meow Wolf use it?” I went to Matt King and said “hey, could we fit a bus into the show?” He said “no, it would be too big.” But then he thought about it and said “wait, but we could cut it in half and install it vertically!” This image is a testament to wild vision and wild faith in what is possible. The power of what could be. We had never cut a bus in half before or never tried to stand one up vertically. Hell, we had never built anything to proper code or raised investment money or operated a business or had a payroll or purchased insurance or… the list goes on. We were restaurant servers and food delivery drivers and hobbyist crafts people who had very little experience in these areas but we had a few really important things going for us: We had an unwavering vision, we had an unabashed love for that vision, and we were willing to wake up every day to work our ass off to see the vision come to completion. Nothing was impossible to us. The future was filled with problems that we knew we could solve, and have an absolute blast in the process of solving them. We never let our current circumstance determine our future outcomes. Sure, there was a naievity that only “startups” really have. But there was more than that… there was a willingness to fail, a passion for simply attempting, a commitment to the profound process of creation that artists uniquely carry. 9 years later… this bus stands tall, surrounded by walls and art and lights and sound and furnishings that transformed all of our lives. 9 years later, we employ over 1000 people across 5 exhibitions across the country, including 200+ artists at our facility in Santa Fe. It hasn’t been perfect. It has been a series of difficult challenges, endless need for improvements, a non-stop attempt… but that’s what we do, we attempt impossible things, and work together to try our best to figure it out. Many of our brilliant team members are currently working on opening our Houston exhibition soon, another monumental project. I’ve seen the work that has left our facility in Santa Fe, and it is absolutely stunning — Meow Wolf is the greatest creative company in the world. And I believe that our creativity has no bounds. I’m psyched to see how the brilliance of our team can extend into many other forms of expression as we once again reach into the impossible realms.

Congrats to the Better Block Foundation for bringing this critical topic to our attention. 😥 Loneliness is a persistent issue in modern society. 💧 Water features hold a unique potential to soothe the soul and create serene spaces where individuals can find solace amidst the hustle and bustle of city life. 🌿 By integrating water features into our urban environments, we can transform public spaces into inviting sanctuaries that encourage interaction and foster a sense of belonging. 🏙️ From tranquil fountains in bustling plazas to captivating water murals adorning city walls to interactive and visitable water features, these design elements possess a unique ability to uplift spirits and alleviate the pervasive feelings of isolation. 🌐 It is imperative that we RETHINK cities as vibrant, engaging, and interconnected communities where the mere presence of water features can act as a catalyst for meaningful connections, combating Loneliness. #Rethink #waterfeatures #urbanspaces #landscape

I certainly agree that the Caleres site in Clayton is a site of great significance and that the highest and best use needs to be highly considered. In this article, I didn't learn much about the Clayton School District's plans for the site, but Clark insists that commercial development would be much more beneficial for the city. Curious to hear any opinions on this development. Let me know if you have any thoughts in the comments below! #Realestate #Claytonmo #developmentsite

#CivicArchitecture is an essential aspect of our social fabric. These buildings and spaces allow the public to feel welcomed, safe, and engaged. We approach Civic stewardship with a holistic design vision because our work can positively impact the communities served. MWA’s first civic revitalization project transformed the Greene Library in Oakland into the African American Museum & Library at Oakland. Our civic portfolio has evolved to include urban design - 9th Avenue Terminal at the Port of Oakland, California - and community wellness and empowerment - Youth Uprising in Oakland, California. We continue to pursue Civic projects with complex and diverse stakeholder needs because these opportunities inspire significant social change. Bringing strategy, leadership and expertise to bear across community development, policy, and organizational development
A convergence is underway that could blow wide open the promise of missing middle housing for communities nationwide. Even more exciting is that it is beginning in Indiana! We can turn the tide on housing undersupply and the enabling transformations in technology and policy are already in motion. When factory built housing innovation from Indiana's Herrick Laboratories and the Center for High Performance Buildings at Purdue meets local community zoning and land use policy updates in places like City of South Bend, City of Bloomington, IN, City of Indianapolis - Department of Metropolitan Development or the Indiana Uplands, we will be positioned to win the next quarter century of competition for people and prosperity.
