In the heart of Europe BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Chairing the Council of the European Union 2024 #HU24EU Can someone explain how come Budapest, with twice the population of Zagreb and a one fifth smaller city area, manages to avoid traffic jams and always has free parking spaces available? Moreover, Budapest hosts over 200 multinational companies, from technology to financial services, making it 45% more developed than Zagreb, yet the rent prices in both cities are the same. Hungary is after 2020 again presiding the Council of the European Union, but without the much public spectacle. They seem to handle it in an good old Austro-Hungarian style, leaving to professionals without much political grandstanding. By choosing the Rubik's Cube as the global recognisable logo for their EU presidency, Hungary promotes innovation, creativity and problem solving. Here are some other interesting facts about Hungarians in 20 seconds: https://lnkd.in/dWQA8WtH

Since 2019, Luxembourg proudly celebrates Europe Day as a public holiday, joining our neighbours across the continent in commemorating the Schuman Declaration of 1950. This landmark moment in history paved the way for the European Coal and Steel Community, which eventually grew into the European Union. As a founding member, Luxembourg has played a crucial role in fostering peace and unity, serving as a driving force behind an integrated Europe. Hosting the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Secretariat of the European Parliament, Luxembourg remains at the heart of the EU, embodying the spirit of cooperation and community. Aligned with the EU's digital agenda, Luxembourg embraces innovation and technological advancement, playing a significant role in promoting a digitally inclusive and sustainable Europe. On this day, let's acknowledge our shared values of democracy, solidarity, and diversity while continuing our work toward a more integrated and digitally inclusive Europe. May we stay focused on collaboration, progress, and innovation, ensuring a strong and united future for all member states. Happy Europe Day! 🎉 #EuropeDay #Luxembourg #EuropeanUnion #DigitalEurope"

🎉 Tomorrow we are celebrating 25 years of successful bilateral relations between Switzerland and the European Union. A quarter of a century in which both parties have benefited from a number of important agreements, especially for the life sciences sector in the context of participation in research programs, free movement of persons or the mutual recognition of conformity assessments 🇨🇭🇪🇺 The bilateral agreements not only bring immense benefits for the economy, but also for each and every one of us. They have simplified trade between Switzerland and the EU and strengthened many other sectors. 🤝💼 Cooperation with the EU has helped to increase the innovative strength of Swiss companies and brings us many advantages in our everyday lives. 🚀✨ As a European citizen with strong ties to Switzerland, these agreements are particularly important to me. They facilitate cross-border collaboration, making it easier for professionals like me to contribute to and benefit from the thriving economic and cultural exchange between Switzerland and the EU. 🌍👩💼 Switzerland is currently negotiating a further development of these bilateral agreements and I would like to thank stark+vernetzt – Für eine konstruktive Europapolitik for being a strong voice for the bilateral agreements. Check out their “Tour de Suisse” that started in #Basel, continues today with events St.Gallen, Geneva and at Ypsomed AG, and tomorrow in Bern🛠️🤞 Let us look back together on this successful path and look to the future with confidence. It is vital to keep and foster initiatives that ensure Europe as a whole can stay competitive and innovative on the global stage! #Switzerland #EU #BilateralRelations #Europe #Innovation #CrossBorderCollaboration

Connectivity is the key word for Hungary One highlight of the Strategic Capital Networking trip to Budapest was the meeting with Bence Bauer, Géza Sebestyén, Peter Drobowiecki and Tamás Fonay at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium - MCC. The MCC focuses on promoting talent in Hungary and the Pannonian Plain. It also works on climate and innovation policy and on German-Hungarian relations. It also has its own German-Hungarian Institute, which is dedicated to bilateral issues and is therefore predestined to bring Hungary closer to the German-speaking world and vice versa. The current Hungarian concept of "connectivity" has become clearer. It refers to a fundamental rejection of new (old) blocs. There should continue to be diplomatic, economic and logistical cooperation with all major players at the global level (e.g. China, India, if possible also Russia). Markets should remain largely open in order to ensure technological progress for Europe as well. The priorities of the Hungarian Presidency are therefore competitiveness, connectivity, enlargement, migration and demography. The basic economic and social policy orientation is based on the motto "workforce instead of welfare". In Austria, the phrase "Vienna is different" is well known. Hungary also claims to be different. But in Europe, being different should not be too much of a problem, as long as it is not at the expense of general solidarity. Green and digital transition will be the focus of the next SCN meetings in Budapest. We stay tuned - Christian Mandl, Philipp Schramel, Orsolya Krammer-Szányi, Karin Jessernigg-Putz, Marlene Lales, Ulrike Hassmann-Vorbach, Barbara Schennach, Micaela Kleedorfer, Heinz Kogler, Iris Marlovits, Claudia Stowasser, Michael Saxl, Christian Krimbacher, Christian H. Schierer and Gudrun Hager #StrategicCapitalNetworking #hungarianEUpresidency #WorkingProgramme
