Defence Industry Grant Programs - opening 18 June 24! The revised Defence Industry Development Grants Program (the program) will award grants over four years from 2024-25 to 2027-28. The program was announced as part of the Defence Industry Development Strategy. The objective of the program is to build the industrial base Australia needs to achieve Defence outcomes in areas of strategic priority. The Defence Industry Development Grants Program funds four distinct grant opportunity streams tailored to address the program outcomes: *Sovereign Industrial Priorities *Skilling *Exports *Security. The new Defence Industry Development Grant program, scheduled to start in June, will continue the work of the Defence Global Competitiveness (DGC) and Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority (SICP) grants. These previous programs have collectively awarded over $104 million through 239 grants, significantly boosting local manufacturing and employment. This program will further enhance Australian businesses' capabilities in key areas like sovereign industrial priorities, exports, skilling, and security.
Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy has announced $3.47 million worth of grants to support eight “cutting-edge” Australian defence SMEs delivering priority capabilities for Defence.

📣 Applications for the Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) program open tomorrow and will remain continuously open. Eligible Australian businesses can begin preparing an application to any of the four streams which include Sovereign Industrial Priorities, Exports, Skilling, and Security. The Defence Industry Development Grant program provides up to $39 million per year until mid-2028 to support small or medium sized Australian businesses operating in the defence sector to enhance their capabilities, capacity and security posture. Initial batch opportunities for the Exports and Skilling streams will close on 31 July 2024 and initial batch opportunities for the Sovereign Industrial Priorities and Security streams will close on 31 August 2024. Commercial X has made changes to our tender notices for services and works contracts, helping MOD procurement teams re-procure services quickly and cost-efficiently, without needing to go back out to market. Utilising regulation 16(1)(d)(ii)) will allow services which have been successfully delivered to be scaled or repeated at pace within five years, for the same or other MOD customers. This encourages collaboration and sharing of best commercial practices across Defence. This improvement demonstrates Commercial X’s commitment to drive pace and agility into procurement across Defence and accelerate procurement processes for the benefit of our frontline forces. The program will provide opportunities for Indigenous businesses in Canada, which are traditionally underrepresented in supply chains, to engage with defence industry suppliers.
