As an active steward of Partner Fund assets, we are pleased to be a member of the CCLA Investment Management led ‘Find it, Fix it, Prevent it’ collaborative engagement on Modern Slavery, and to lead one of the company engagements in the construction sector. Construction is regarded as a high-risk for modern slavery for a number of reasons: • it requires a pool of relatively low-wage labour, a high-proportion of whom are migrant workers • sub-contracting and long-labour supply chains are the norm • many different workers are on and off site during a project lifecycle The sector, in general, is adhering to the Modern Slavery Act and associated guidance, but as CCLA’s new report shows, when it comes to proactive risk management to find, fix, and prevent, there is much still to do. #ResponsibleInvestment #engagement #LGPS

This is a promising trend, but we recognise the on-going commitment needed from Government and businesses like ours to rapidly and equitably close the gap.   This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme “Now More Than Ever” is very apt as MBB commits to learning, and growing our contribution to Reconciliation.
