🏈 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗡𝗖𝗔𝗔 𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗦 - 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 . 🇺🇸 The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced significant changes to its roster limit policies across a wide range of sports. These alterations present wide-ranging implications for coaches, student-athletes, and athletic programs. . 🏀 These changes to roster limit policies have occurred as a result of the well-documented House Settlement agreement. This agreement involves the proposed sharing of revenue with NCAA college athletes and making the number of scholarship spots available on a program to be aligned to the roster limit. . 🏑 Why has this been negotiated into the settlement agreements? Given all the losses the NCAA has incurred lately, the organisation didn’t want to risk another defeat. The plaintiff lawyers, meanwhile, saw it as a chance to increase the number of athletes receiving scholarships. The new system allows schools flexibility to decide how many scholarships within the roster limit they want to give out. . ✅ In this blog post, we explore in depth the impact of these changes, the logic behind them, and how they will shape college sports in the future. This is a great read and highly recommended for any aspiring college students… . 📲 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗡𝗢𝗪: https://lnkd.in/gJXC8wFF . #WednesdayWisdom #USSS #ncaa #roster #limits #naia #NJCAA #collegesports #studentathlete #athlete #sports #sport

Post 4: No More Scholarship Limits: Expanding Opportunities for Athletes 📈 Scholarship Limits Eliminated 📈 The NCAA is set to revolutionize college sports by eliminating scholarship limits at the Division I level. Starting in the 2025-2026 season, teams will regulate their rosters through roster limits rather than scholarship caps, allowing more athletes to join collegiate teams. This change will open doors for countless aspiring athletes, offering new opportunities and expanding the scope of college sports. The anticipated court approval on September 5th will be decisive in solidifying this new approach. National Letter of Intent is No More 🚨 Major NCAA Update Alert! 🚨 The NCAA continues thier efforts to reshape the future of collegiate athletics as a result of the historic House v. NCAA case. The NCAA Division I Council has officially voted to eliminate the National Letter of Intent (NLI) in a push to "modernize collegiate sports." For those of us who remember the excitement of NLI signing day, this marks the end of an era. The NLI, established in 1964, was a binding agreement that locked in high school recruits to their college for at least one year, giving schools an assurance in exchange for athletic scholarships. Now, instead of signing NLIs, athletes and schools will work with financial aid and scholarship offers. With colleges soon able to pay athletes up to $20 million annually through revenue-sharing starting in 2025, this change gives athletes more freedom and flexibility—making it easier to transfer schools without penalties tied to NLI agreements. 🏀⚽ This is a game-changer for student-athletes! 🏈⚾ Are you a parent or sports manager who wants to know more on how this shift affects high school athlete's or a college program? Let’s talk about it! Reach out to me to schedule a free consultation and make sure you’re prepared for the new world of collegiate sports. Let’s continue to build a path to success across all sports —on and off the field. 🌟🥉 🎓 🏀 🏈 ⚽ ⚾ #asesportsllc #asesportsconsulting #sportsmanagement #athletemanagement #sportsmedia #sportsbusiness #ncaa #collegesports #collegeathlete #highschoolsports #highschoolathlete #nli #nationalletterofintent

Exploring the NIL Landscape: Lessons from UNLV’s Recent Drama At Athletes of Tomorrow (AOT), we see basketball as more than just a game—it’s a transformative tool that nurtures academic growth and personal development. Our commitment extends beyond the court, preparing young athletes for real-world challenges, emphasizing mental health, and paving the way for educational and career opportunities through NIL deals and scholarships. The recent situation at UNLV involving their starting quarterback, Matthew Sluka, sheds light on the complexities and potential pitfalls within the current NIL framework. Sluka’s decision to take a redshirt year due to unmet NIL promises highlights a broader, systemic issue—the reliability and enforcement of verbal NIL agreements in college sports. This incident serves as a crucial learning opportunity for all stakeholders in collegiate athletics. At AOT, we stress the importance of clear, documented agreements to protect the interests of our athletes. Our focus is not only on securing opportunities but ensuring they are upheld, providing a stable foundation for our athletes’ futures. As we follow developments at UNLV, we continue to advocate for transparency, fairness, and the highest standards in all aspects of athlete management. Let’s use this as a call to action to refine NIL practices and protect our athletes’ rights and futures. 🏀 #AthletesOfTomorrow #NILRights #StudentAthlete #CollegeSports #BasketballDevelopment #AcademicExcellence #MentalHealthAwareness #ScholarshipOpportunities #RealWorldPrep #SportsEthics #AthleteSupport

Understanding Oversigning in College Athletics Oversigning is an unofficial term in American college sports where athletic departments sign recruits to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) that may exceed the maximum number of scholarships allowed by the NCAA. While the NCAA limits the number of scholarships across all sports, football has additional yearly caps. This practice can lead to complex situations where not all recruits receive the promised athletic scholarship, impacting their college athletic and academic career.

Let me add: There is NOTHING wrong with the goal of an athletic scholarship. NOTHING. There is nothing wrong with going all-in on trying to become a collegiate or professional athlete. NOTHING. What is wrong is when a parent or student-athlete confuses those goals with the GOAL of HS Sports. They don't have to be mutually exclusive things but for many, the goal of attaining the athletic scholarship overshadows the most important thing about HS sports: The LIFE lessons.

The current reality of NIL doesn't have to be it's future. Universities are missing out on a HUGE opportunity to use NIL to help fulfill their academic missions and increase the value of the NIL experience for their student-athletes. #exploitthesynergies
Mack Brown, UNC’s Head Football Coach, gives a very blunt assessment in the article below of the college football environment in this new NIL era. It’s the current reality, but it doesn’t need to be the future one. In addition to caps, universities should leverage NIL to provide experiential learning opportunities for both their student-athletes and regular students. The key difference between pro sports and college sports is that the latter is housed in an academic environment. Universities should lean into that to not only help fulfill their academic missions, but also greatly increase the value of their student-athletes’ NIL experiences. https://lnkd.in/gb_Vej-P #NIL #experientiallearning #GenZ #highered
