This film is the 8th installment of my work on films from the Hunt Royale realm. It introduces a mysterious character named Sun Wukong.😎 This time, I had a bit of a longer format to fill in, so I used Unreal Engine for rendering and scene assembly. 🖥️ Animation and rigging were still done in Blender, but I did environments, effects, and rendering in UE. Some effects are VDB files generated in EmberGen; others are particles and Niagara effects inside UE.✨🚀 I had been learning both software extensively months before this production, and it paid off with a quick production process despite a larger quantity of locations and effects than I had in previous productions.🤩 Thanks to BoomBit for the script, the characters to play with, and the sound design. What is Popol? A volcano about to explode? An out of control horse heading towards an uncertain future? A drawer of possibilities? We are a factory of ideas to be transformed into animation. Our purpose is to do different things. With visual appeal, but, most importantly, with content. We are an animation studio that flirts with the cultural market. So if you have an idea, a publisher, a design studio that produces pieces within a visionary scope, or even, if you are an artist with collective purposes, a writer with shelved scripts, a curator with contemporary proposals... well, that's it. an invitation for you. visit: popol.studio

What do Melbourne, Australia, and Santos, Brazil, have in common? More than you might think: stunning beaches, a bustling port, and a vibrant sports and cultural scene. But what you may not know is about the unexpected connection that emerged between GOAT Animation and the band The Omnific. The Omnific is an Australian instrumental progressive metal band, formed in 2016 by drummer Jerome Lematua and bassists Matt Fackrell and Toby Peterson-Stewart in Melbourne. Thanks to technology, we bridged the 13,000 km gap to turn this collaboration into a reality, and now we invite you to dive into the creative process that brought this international project to life. The musicians of The Omnific gave us full creative freedom. The challenge? Transforming the powerful music they sent us into a completely original visual narrative. This kind of creative freedom is both exciting and challenging—starting from scratch can be daunting, but that’s where the magic happens. Felipe Duarte (director) and Gabie (screenwriter) embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, kicking off a creative process that was nothing short of an explosion of ideas. Inspired by a space atmosphere filled with science fiction and fantastic beings, we developed a concise storyline that captured the essence of the music and the band. To our delight, this storyline was approved right away, allowing us to move forward with the script creation and visual reference selection. The aesthetic of The Omnific’s music video was shaped by various influences, from Evangelion to Final Space, passing through Rick and Morty, and even the surreal world of Gumball. Each reference was carefully chosen to create a cohesive and engaging sci-fi concept that reflected both the music and the unique personalities of the band members. And just to tease your curiosity: imagine an alien baby wreaking havoc wherever it goes—yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. The initial brainstorming felt like a chaotic storm of ideas—alien babies, spaceships, massive destruction, and… beer. But, gradually, order emerged from the chaos, and the project began to take shape. The final result? A music video that is creative, unique, and perfectly aligned with the spirit of The Omnific. We used Illustrator to create vector illustrations characterized by bold lines and solid colors, ensuring visual clarity that highlights every design detail. For the animation, we employed advanced techniques in After Effects, such as frame-by-frame and cut-out animation. These techniques allowed for rich and detailed fluidity, bringing the vignette to life with smooth and expressive movements. Although GOAT has prior experience with international projects, this was our first with The Omnific—and we hope it’s just the beginning of a long partnership. We can’t wait to see where this collaboration will take us in the future. https://lnkd.in/dUrQJ72D

Just finished Eran Stern's incredible course on rotoscoping, and I'm feeling supercharged to put these skills into action! Rotoscoping, for those who aren't familiar, is an animation technique that uses live-action footage as a reference to create realistic movements in animation. It's like having a secret weapon for bringing your characters to life! https://lnkd.in/d4HU_uiY #rotoscoping.

Hey folks! 👋 This summer I made a music video featuring this short animation, only as an outline. Well, I couldn't leave it alone - I just had to give it a glow-up! Check out how this rotating skull went from simple sketch to full-on cyberpunk madness! 💀✨🎵 The remix rundown: • Started as a basic black outline for the music video (Procreate Dreams FTW!) • Decided to jazz it up with some wild, neon colors (because why not?) • Threw in some funky gradients to make it pop My digital toybox for this makeover: 1. Blender for a quick 3D reference 2. Back to Procreate Dreams for the 2D magic 3. After Effects to tie it all together It's a short and sweet 7-second loop, but man, it was a blast to reimagine! I'm all about mixing up 3D, 2D, and hand-drawn stuff these days. This little project was my playground for color experimentation - turns out I can make things pretty vibrant when I want to! 🌈 What I learned along the way: • Neon colors can make even a skull look lively (who knew?) • Juggling different software is like being a digital octopus, but so worth it • Gradients and glows are your friends when you want to add some oomph • Sometimes, revisiting old projects can lead to awesome new creations! I'm always up for a chat about animation, digital art, or just geeking out over cool visuals. Hit me up if you want to collab, need some music video magic, or just want to swap some creative war stories! PS. Original animation in the comment below, check it out. #Motion #Design #Art #Creative #Animation #DigitalArtist #Cyberpunk #AfterEffects #ProcreateDreams #Blender

The main feature of this AR effect is the mirror reflection of the character. This is the conceptual basis for a whole series of paintings in this style, so it was decided to transfer symmetry into effect. Which became the main difficulty of the project, since the task turned out to be non-trivial. Blender has a built-in Mirror modifier that creates a symmetrically reflected object, merging it with the original. Similar functionality is available in any 3D editor. In any, but not in LensStudio. I had to create an emulator for the Mirror modifier myself. Someday the SnapChat team will implement this feature in their studio, and effects can be created in a couple of mouse clicks. But they haven’t implemented it yet, but this case describes the algorithm for implementing the functionality. There were a lot of experiments trying to come up with the best way to transfer animation from Blender to LensStudio with a minimum weight of uploaded files. Modifiers from Blender are not uploaded to fbx, this is the functionality of the editor itself; it will not work in any other application. But the transfer effects are funny. #blender #LensStudio #AugmentedReality

Project: Sci-Fi Core Environmental Design and Short Film Animation I wanted to make an animation with my own scenario. After long decisions, I was able to make this short film. I used blender for modelling, rig animations and concept. I used unreal engine to render my scene. While doing these, I encountered many new areas for me. Terrain modeling, the depths of the material, the harmony between the vegetation and the ground, and the relationship of the entire scene to each other. To create the spaces, I first drew simple concepts and tried to make 2D drawings to give a function to the spaces I created. When I finally found the music I needed, I started to roll up my sleeves. I had a lot of fun doing the project and I'm happy to finally be able to share it.
