This class allowed me to explore many areas that affect health as well as investigate one for myself and find solutions to address it ❓ If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be? ➡️ A penguin! They are my favorite animal of all time 🐧 ❓ What's your favorite song right now? ➡️ My favorite song right now is More of You by Chris Stapleton 🎶 ❓ What does being a woman in public health mean to you? ➡️ Being a woman in public health means that issues impacting women hold a special place in my heart. As I move into my macro policy specialization year at Louisiana State University, I am so blessed to annouce my fall internship. I’ll be working for the National Association of Social Workers’ Texas and Louisiana Chapters. The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services is investing in students today to become our communities’ behavioral health care professionals of tomorrow. I’m thrilled that we have received over 1,000 applications for the behavioral health care internship stipend program already. We’re making key investments to strengthen the provider pipeline and address the growing demand for behavioral health care professionals: 🔵 Students training to join the behavioral health workforce participating in select internship opportunities can receive a stipend of up to $15,000. 🔵 We’re also encouraging more students to seek a master’s degree in social work by offering a stipend of $30,000 with their commitment to working in behavioral health care in the state upon graduation. These programs, alongside other strategic investments to enhance the continuum of care, ensure Michigan families have access to behavioral health care services where and when they need them. Title: Admissions Intern What I did: I aided in the organization and updating of office procedures. I assisted in the planning and confirmation of events for prospective students. I worked along side professional staff to improve daily operations and programming. What I liked: I enjoyed getting a deeper look into higher education and the role admissions plays in a university. Why It Matters
So thrilled to welcome our 2024 MaineHealth and MaineHealth Institute for Research summer interns yesterday at our orientation at MaineHealth corporate headquarters in Portland! We had an incredible day with leaders Scott Ballard, Douglas Sawyer, and Kelly Elkins who shared more about our health system and how our intern's work in their respective departments will positively impact our health system and the communities we serve. Between both groups we have 75 interns from 40 departments across the system this summer–what an engaged group of young professionals who will be helping to make a difference at MaineHealth with their skills and expertise–looking forward to seeing them shine this summer! Special thanks to our speakers along with Liz Bergst, Christine Ellis, Ungara Farris, Joe Baty, Jonathan Delorme, Daphne Backman, Hailey Davis, Justin Marston and others who helped make the day possible.
