2024 was a turbulent year in global term, but thanks to genuine motivation and strong collaboration, our positive impact prevails over social and political challenges. Together let's demonstrate the power of mutual trust and teamwork that overcomes division and desolation! Some examples: At city level in Gemeente Den Haag, the research group #FutureUrbanSystems, part of Centre of Expertise Mission Zero, De Haagse Hogeschool, takes the co-leadership in the Public-Private Knowledge Partnership under The Hague Climate Agreement #HKA. Through district approach, we are implementing the #EUMission #100CNSC. With #ParisProof and #ZeroEmission campus, we contribute to the sustainable development of the Central Innovation District #CID. We performed a grant research project on #datadriven just energy transition in Vruchtenbuurt, and we will continue in Mariahoeve. With the EU grant Enabling City Transformation #ECT #NetZeroCities, we develop a digital platform for community engagement. At national level in The #Netherlands, we co-hosted the Research Day on Digitalization in the Built Environment that strengthened the academic collaboration between universities of applied sciences #14UAS and universities of technology 4TU.Built Environment. Furthermore, at the request from NWO (Dutch Research Council), I took a seat in the scientific committees of several research programmes. At international level, we are conducting the #HorizonEurope SUM4Re and started our new Driving Urban Transitions Partnership project on Positive Energy Districts. We also assisted Platform31 in a strategic study and in preparing the conference “Europe Day for Green & Digital Cities”. Beyond the EU, we supported governmental and educational initiatives in extending collaboration with the #UK, #Canada, and #Indonesia, especially in #SustainableBuildings, #SmartCities and #LivingLabs. 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 We had the honour to design and facilitate the initial cohort of Ecological Belonging Innovation Fellows. Together with teams from The Red House & The Wellbeing Project, we designed the first three-months of the Fellows' two-year journey. The cohort consisted of over 50 Fellows from Georgetown University (USA), University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA), Centro Universitário Facens (Brazil), and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). Our unifying inquiry for the sessions was 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦? We explored the concept of #EcologicalBelonging through the lenses of Stories & Narratives, Rituals & Practices, and Learning & Knowing. You can see more of that work on the website here https://lnkd.in/gNqh_UTf Our context for the journey was the four universities specifically and higher education more broadly. We used #ThreeHorizons to create Portraits of each university that identified co-prevalent dominant and emergent cultures of Ecological Belonging as a way to understand what might be catalyzed and hospiced as the Fellows deepen into fostering EB at their universities. The Fellowship followed the spirit expressed by The Wellbeing Project team that ecological belonging is not a prescription but an orientation of belonging and interconnection. As a way to identify the components of that orientation, we co-created 8 (𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥) 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 as a harvest from the Fellows. These Elements transcend Ecological Belonging binaries (have or not have) so the Fellows can move into specific experiments that cultivate Ecological Belonging at their universities. We are pleased to be able to share this aspect of the work that is in the public domain in hopes that it is a seed from which many flowers may bloom. For universities that want to be part of this work, please reach out to The Wellbeing Project team here https://lnkd.in/g68VcerK #highereducation #educationinnovation

InnoArch is celebrating a milestone collaboration! We're excited to share the seed we have planted in the past months with CODEsign for COEXistence (CODE-COEX): The framework for scaling Biocities with nature-based solutions for planetary well-being. A remarkable collaborative effort towards internationalization. Partners from five European countries—Norway, Portugal, Spain, Poland, and Finland—formed a multidisciplinary team of architects, ecologists, health experts, and city planners, united with a shared vision. Together, we established a common ground for creating resilient, sustainable "Biocities." Our goal is to promote planetary well-being by integrating Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and New European Bauhaus (NEB) values into urban planning. These initiatives focus on restoring biodiversity, adapting to climate change, and enhancing the quality of life for all species. In a short time, we created a cohesive framework across Europe, demonstrating the power of international cooperation and innovative thinking. We will continue to push our agenda forward. Thank you to an amazing team! We’re proud to unveil our bold new vision for revitalising and re-imagining our #Lismore campus! The new Master Plan sets out a dramatic rethinking of the 75-hectare campus to be known as the Southern Cross Learning Precinct or Gnibi Wandarahn in the local Bundjalung language. Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tyrone Carlin, describes the Master Plan as a pioneering model for regional university towns. "We have set out to create a vision for a dynamic, multi-faceted hub of research, innovation, and community partnerships that will change the way the region interacts with the University forever." Education and the student experience remain central, but our Master Plan also emphasises pillars of impactful research and engaged communities. Some of the proposed elements include: - Transitioning to a zero-carbon economy by 2035 - Expanding existing tenants like Trinity Catholic College and The Living School - New student accommodation - State-of-the-art sports facilities - New outdoor amphitheatre for cultural and music performances - Embracing green spaces and natural waterways - Goodman Plaza redeveloped; Bundjalung Place and SCU Hub will be public spaces. Developed in collaboration with TERROIR and Possible Studio, this Master Plan sets the future direction for Southern Cross University and its partners. While it'll take time to formulate, it lays the groundwork for investment planning and frameworks involving government funding and participation. Have more questions?
