World Penguin Day yesterday. Emperor Penguins are currently forecast to be near extinct by the turn of the next century (a mere lifetime with today's life expectancy). One goal in capturing and sharing images is to create space to stop and think about personal choices and business decisions that can impact creatures that inhabited Earth well before humans arrived and well before human consumption patterns started altering ecosystems and the soil, water and air we rely on to thrive and survive. #photography #worldpenguinday Image: Close up of an adult Emperor Penguin at the Astrid Emperor Colony at the edge of the Nivl Ice Shelf.

Did you know light 💡 can be a major disruption in the natural behavior of sea turtles nesting and when hatchlings emerge from the nest? Nesting and emergence usually occur in the middle of the night, and this is the reason why flashlights, flash photography, and other light sources should not be used around them. Light can cause a female to return to the ocean before finishing her nest or lead a hatchling away from the water. 🌊🐢 Learn more about Sea Turtles in our latest episode of Marine Science Minute by clicking the 🔗 link below. https://bit.ly/3Q8RgaH

1wBeautiful! Thanks for sharing. I have an old The Celestron Super Polaris C8 from the early 80s. I'd love to learn how/if I can retrofit it with any of the new technologies so that it is better at deep space viewing and not just planets. Thanks in advance for any guidance anyone might be able to provide.
