Null geodesics of a spacetime are a key factor in determining dynamics of particles. In this paper, it is argued that, within the scope of validity of Cosmological Principle, expansion of the Universe causes the null geodesics to accelerate, providing us with a universal acceleration scale cH_0/e. Since acceleration of null rays of spacetime corresponds to null rays of velocity space, demanding the invariance of acceleration of light yields a new metric for the velocity space, which introduces time as a dimension of the velocity space. Being part of the configuration space, modification of distance measurements in velocity space alters the Euler-Lagrange equation and from there the equation of motion, Newton's Second Law. It is then seen that the resulting modification eliminates the need for Dark matter, yielding MOND as an approximation, fixing Milgrom's constant to the unprecedentedly exact value of a_0=cH_0/2e, without suffering MOND's theoretical shortcomings. https://lnkd.in/dsug8hNs

I am happy to share that my recent topical review "Spherically symmetric elastic bodies in general relativity" has been published! I want to thank my collaborators, Artur Alho, José Natário, and Paolo Pani for all the work! In this review, we have explored in great detail what happens to compact objects when we go beyond the perfect fluid idealization of matter. Although solid effects can arise naturally under extreme densities, such as those inside stars and compact objects, these astrophysical objects are often still modeled as self-gravitating fluids. By exploring a wide range of models we have shown that these elastic effects can change the macroscopic properties of the compact objects, in particular allowing us to obtain physically viable objects with much larger mass and compactness. These results can have important applications in the context of neutron star physics but also they can be used as a robust framework to model ultracompact objects. Within the so-called chaotic occurrence, self similarity, fractals are a product of synchronization in the most fundamental manner. Hence there is no chaos, only order in the most grandest forms. What if... Proposed Relation: Instead of light, we're considering neutrinos as the basis for frequency correlation to time. Let's examine this: Neutrino-Time Correlation: Neutrinos, being nearly massless and traveling at speeds very close to the speed of light, could potentially serve as an alternative "cosmic clock." Their weak interaction with matter means they can travel vast distances relatively unimpeded. Implications for Special Relativity: Time Dilation: How would time dilation be affected if we base it on neutrino frequency instead of light? Speed Limit: Would the cosmic speed limit still be c (speed of light), or would it be redefined based on neutrino speed? Implications for General Relativity: Gravitational Time Dilation: How would gravitational effects on time be recalculated using neutrino frequency? Spacetime Curvature: Would the curvature of spacetime be perceived differently if measured by neutrino propagation? Reassessment of Einstein's Knowns: a) E = mc²: This equation might need modification if the speed of light is no longer the fundamental constant. Potential new form: E = mc²ν, where ν is a factor related to neutrino speed or frequency. b) Lorentz Transformations: These would need to be recalculated based on neutrino properties rather than light. c) Gravitational Redshift: This phenomenon might manifest differently for neutrinos compared to light. d) Equivalence Principle: The equivalence of gravitational and inertial mass might need reassessment in this neutrino-centric model.

In 1915, Einstein published his famous theory of General Relativity which shattered our understanding of gravity. 🌌 It has been very succesfull at describing the motion of planets in our Solar System as well as the history of our expanding Universe. The way gravity behaves might however deviate from Einstein's theory at galactic scales. To probe such a deviation, one can exploit strong lensing. This is an impressive observational effect predicted by General Relativity that occurs when two galaxies align. The background galaxy thus appears multiple times in our field of view. 🔭 Using strong lensing, I set up an observational test of General Relativity at galactic scales. I found no significant discrepancy with Einstein's theory but this work paves the way for future studies where large surveys, like Euclid space mission 🛰️, will be able to gain significant accuracy on the measurements thanks to the hundreds of thousands systems expected to be detected. In the meantime, Einstein's theory remains our reference. This work has been recently accepted and published in the Physical Review D. and is available with open access on the arXiv (https://lnkd.in/e-FMVcSW). Yesterday was a special day. Colour-composites images, combining data from both Euclid instruments, VIS and NISP, of 5 magnificent Early-Release-Observation targets were released to the public. I'm not exaggerating, I got a bit emotional. This feels like a culmination, because it is, of the work of hundreds of scientists, engineers and other professionals across Europe (and beyond) over many years, and I was part of that effort and can claim a bunch of pixels as my own contribution ;-). But these images, in all their glory, are just very small patches in the high-resolution, deep map of the extragalactic sky that Euclid will build over the next years. So, this is also just a beginning. There are other observatories (Hubble, JWST, etc.) that can go deeper, but this combination of photometric depth, high spatial resolution, and sky area will be a History-first. And the magnitude and complexity of the data-analysis that will be required to extract information on the dark-energy and dark-matter content of the Universe from those images and spectra is just as formidable, if not more, than the quality and amount of image (and spectroscopy) data that will be collected. Images and spectra that will be used for those main goals, but also will be available to the science comunity at large, for many other purposes, some likely not yet foreseen.
