Genomics is incrementally transforming the safety and efficacy of prescribed medications. Interoperable digital platforms will be key to enabling pharmacogenomics to become a common practice for our front line clinical services.

JUMP-CP dataset is a very useful resource when searching for new treatments for rare diseases. In #phenotypic screening we don't care much about the mechanisms, but rather look for compounds that elicit the most similar phenotype to the disease condition. In this plot we calculated the distances between phenotypes of cells treated with compounds to phenotypes of TRPV4 knock-down cells, meaning we are looking for antagonists 💊 of TRPV4 receptor. The plot below is basically a 1D plot of distances with some jitter applied in the Y axis for easier visualization. What I really like about this plot is: * Negative controls (orange points) are very densely concentrated. This means that a) we did a damn good job at batch effect correction of imaging datasets from multiple different laboratories/microscopes, and b) we can determine clear borders of what are hits and what not. * There are not too many hits, and many of these stand out quite a lot from the negative controls. Several hits are known drugs, which also shows a great potential for drug repurposing.
