Are degree apprenticeships overshadowing the traditional Level 3 craft route? Many schools and colleges promote degree apprenticeships in a way that can make the Level 3 option seem like a lesser choice. But in my opinion, a degree apprenticeship isn't necessarily better. I’d always recommend finding an employer that offers a Level 3 apprenticeship with at least a HNC add on. You can always progress to a degree apprenticeship later on. I'm working with an employer now that needs an engineering manager with a machining background as this is imperative for the role. I know this might seem like the non sexy route, but hands on skills are the foundations for a lot of senior engineering jobs. I'd be interested to get your thoughts on this.
