🏢 We're thrilled to contribute to the construction of the Athletes' Village in Saint-Denis alongside Paris Ouest Construction. This project will provide housing, offices, shops, and public facilities designed for long-term use. We used #Vertua's lower-carbon concrete and decorative concrete, while efficiently managing construction materials and excavation waste by river to help create a thriving urban area that will serve both this summer's sports events and the future community's needs. Musings on the importance of the architectural briefing process...
We're on the brink of completing a project to redevelop The AELTC Community Tennis Centre, that's been close to our hearts for eight years. The briefing process, all those years ago, was complex and critical for a project which covers 7 hectares of previously waterlogged land. At the same time as completing this, we're starting new projects and testing out fresh ideas. Now's a good time to think about how important it is to start with the right brief. At Langstaff Day, we think that starting a project with a clear and solid brief is crucial. A well-thought-out strategy is like a strong foundation for a building. If the brief isn't robust, it can cause problems all the way through the design and construction process, leading to last-minute changes and a compromised outcome. Creating a strong brief means translating our clients' initial ideas, discussing them, testing them, analyzing them, and continually drawing and diagramming them. Dealing with different opinions from our clients is something we're used to. Our method for finding the best way forward, even with different voices, is simple: 1. Ask the right questions 2. Listen carefully 3. Test, test, test Feasibility studies are where we blend our experience and creativity. By showing our clients the possibilities that come from looking closely at the site and the brief, they can make informed choices. Making thoughtful choices is the key to smooth projects and successful buildings. #LangstaffDayArchitects #ProjectSuccess #InnovationInDesign https://lnkd.in/epXrbucn

#Europan #E17 Runner-up in Larvik (NO) -- Standing stone to the sea -- by AS: Alexandre Bailleux (FR), Warren Louis-Marie (FR), Noémie Pages (FR) – architects "The first question to raise was how to cross the railway line ? The easiest solution might have been to design a footbridge with an elevator to easily cross the barrier represented by the train tracks and the mountain. But in our opinion, this incredible site does not deserve such a scar in the landscape. What’s more, a bird, a frog or even a lizard cannot take an elevator !" #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #larvik #norge

Intrinsic value of lost or destroyed historic structures cannot be regained, once it is lost. While reconstruction of historic structures may assist with the collective memory of a place or society, the essence associated with the heritage value cannot be recreated.
