Through their documented ability to improve access to lifesaving substance use treatment, recovery supports, crisis services, integrated care and other services, #CCBHCs are eliminating barriers to access for people in hundreds of communities, according to the new report, which is based on survey responses from more than 300 clinics. A new government report reveals critical shortages in mental health care, particularly affecting those with Medicare or Medicaid. With fewer than 5 providers per 1,000 enrollees, urgent policy changes are needed to increase provider participation and streamline processes. Without access, individuals face significant barriers to treatment, worsening mental health issues. This is a really worrying issue now and especially so for the extreme ends of the working population. It's something that's been over a decade in the making as well... YOUNGER WORKERS - The Resolution Foundation in February found young people were now more likely to experience a mental health problem than any other age group - and found more than a third of 18- to 24-year-olds reporting symptoms of mental illness. OLDER WORKERS - The Health Foundation, found there were three main conditions causing a significant burden of ill-health: chronic pain, type 2 diabetes and mental health problems. Chronic pain disproportionately affects those in their 50s/60s and these people, and others with a variety of conditions, are not getting treated because of long NHS waiting lists. The occupational charities like The Solicitors' Charity are acting as a safety net and seeing individuals coming to them for wellbeing support of all types - from financial to mental health. The Health Foundation said: "It would require a cross-government approach to address the underlying causes of ill-health, as well as extra investment in the NHS, councils and voluntary sector." https://lnkd.in/ebTMTG2Y
