The Oldest tree in India is the Baobab tree of Jhusi, Allahabad, and the Prijaat tree at Kintoor, Uttar Pradesh. Trees generally have a long life span ranging from a hundred to more than a few thousand years. India is home to some of the oldest trees in the world. These ancient trees are not only charming but also historically relevant. #AncientTrees #Nature'sLegacy #TimelessWonders

Heard this beautiful song - "Cauvery Haadu" on the event of #Mahashivratri2024, penned by Shri Sadhguru JV and sung by the fabulous duo of Shankar Mahadeva and Sandeep Narayan, about the river Cauvery and its heart-wrenching plight. 🎶 Listen to the song here: https://lnkd.in/g3_5CGA6 (Original video posted by Sounds of Isha) https://lnkd.in/gYp6FZ52 (From the mahashivratri stream) It made me realize that, despite consuming water from the river Cauvery for more than three decades, I have never given a thought to the source of this fresh water while sitting in my city home. The realization hit hard that this basic necessity could become scarce and potentially make my city uninhabitable for future generations. As several parts of Bengaluru are reeling under severe water shortage, the impact and seriousness of the issue have become clear to me. Thousands of farmers and acres of agricultural belts have already taken the brunt of it. It's now time for us as individuals, who depend on the river Cauvery, to do our bit in ensuring the river is restored to her majestic volume and doesn't become a seasonal river. Back in 2019, Chennai faced a massive water crisis, and now Bengaluru is staring at another. What are we waiting for? While judicious usage is a must for damage control, the right and futuristic solution is afforestation along the river basin. Conscious Planet, an organization run by Isha Foundation, is determined to plant 242 crore trees overall the decade. We can lend our support by contributing an amount that would translate to a fixed number of trees being planted along the river basin. This is the barest minimum that us city dwellers, sitting miles away from the river, could do. For more details - https://lnkd.in/gN3v27nB We as a generation have to become more conscious of the natural resources we consume and learn to #giveback. This has to be ingrained into our thought process and become a part of us. #cauverycalling #savesoil

Anything is Possible.
Meet Thimmakka - a 112-year-old Padma Shri awardee who planted trees worth ₹85+ crores! Due to extreme poverty, Thimmakka couldn't fulfil her dream of attending school and was married off at a very young age. She married a man named Bikkala, a clarinet expert. When the couple were going through a personal crisis, they decided to commit themselves to a larger purpose. From 1948, they started planting banyan trees in Karnataka from Hulikal taluk to Pudur which is a 4 km stretch. Even after her husband’s death, Thimmakka continued her mission and took care of trees like her own children. She spent half of the day at work and the other half taking care of plants. Thimmakka is known as the Mother of Trees, planting 8000+ trees worth more than ₹85 crores. After spending majority of her old age through her pension, she was finally honored with a cabinet rank on her 111th birthday! Even a single individual can have a profound impact on the planet when served with a larger purpose. Thimmakka’s story of 7 decades is a reminder of that. #Thimmakka #MotherOfTrees

According to Jain , Mahavir was born on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the moon in the month of Chaitra in the year 599 BCE (Chaitra Sud 13). Most modern historians consider Kundagram (which is today's Kundalpur in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar) as his birthplace. Mahavir was born in a democratic kingdom (Ganarajya), Vajji, where the king was chosen by votes. Vaishali was its capital. Mahavir was named 'Vardhaman', meaning "One who grows", because of the increased prosperity in the kingdom at the time of his birth. In Vasokund, Mahavir is revered by the villagers. A place called Ahalya bhumi has not been ploughed for hundreds of years by the family that owns it, as it is considered to be the birthplace of Mahavir. Mahavirswami was born into Ikshvaku dynasty as the son of King Siddhartha of Kundagrama and Queen Trishala. During her pregnancy, Trishala was believed to have had a number of auspicious dreams, all signifying the coming of a great soul. Digambara sect of Jainism holds that the mother saw sixteen dreams which were interpreted by the King Siddhartha. . It is said that when Queen Trishala gave birth to Mahavir, Indra, the head of heavenly beings (devas) performed a ritual called abhisheka on Sumeru Parvat, this being the second of five auspicious events (Panch Kalyanakas), said to occur in the life of all Tirthankaras. #broadband #WIFI #internetserviceprovider #homewifi #BroadbandForAll #HighSpeedInternet #fibre #FastInternet #mbps #fiberoptics #InternetConnection #MahavirJayanti #MahavirJayanti2024
