Heard this beautiful song - "Cauvery Haadu" on the event of #Mahashivratri2024, penned by Shri Sadhguru JV and sung by the fabulous duo of Shankar Mahadeva and Sandeep Narayan, about the river Cauvery and its heart-wrenching plight. 🎶 Listen to the song here: https://lnkd.in/g3_5CGA6 (Original video posted by Sounds of Isha) https://lnkd.in/gYp6FZ52 (From the mahashivratri stream) It made me realize that, despite consuming water from the river Cauvery for more than three decades, I have never given a thought to the source of this fresh water while sitting in my city home. The realization hit hard that this basic necessity could become scarce and potentially make my city uninhabitable for future generations. As several parts of Bengaluru are reeling under severe water shortage, the impact and seriousness of the issue have become clear to me. Thousands of farmers and acres of agricultural belts have already taken the brunt of it. It's now time for us as individuals, who depend on the river Cauvery, to do our bit in ensuring the river is restored to her majestic volume and doesn't become a seasonal river. Back in 2019, Chennai faced a massive water crisis, and now Bengaluru is staring at another. What are we waiting for? While judicious usage is a must for damage control, the right and futuristic solution is afforestation along the river basin. Conscious Planet, an organization run by Isha Foundation, is determined to plant 242 crore trees overall the decade. We can lend our support by contributing an amount that would translate to a fixed number of trees being planted along the river basin. This is the barest minimum that us city dwellers, sitting miles away from the river, could do. For more details - https://lnkd.in/gN3v27nB We as a generation have to become more conscious of the natural resources we consume and learn to #giveback. This has to be ingrained into our thought process and become a part of us. #cauverycalling #savesoil

Bhopal It is known as the City of Lakes, due to presence of various natural and artificial lakes near the city boundary. It is also one of the greenest cities in India. It is the 16th largest city in India and 131st in the world. The district derives its name from the district head-quarters town Bhopal which is also the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The etymology of the term Bhopal has been derived from its former name Bhojpal as would be evident form the following extract from the imperial Gazetter of Central India,1908 P. 240. Bhopal is known as the “city of lakes”; its name is a derivation of Bhoj Tal (“Bhoj's Lake”), a lake constructed by Bhoj, a Hindu raja, in the 11th century. Today that lake is the Upper Bhopal Lake (Bada Talab), which is connected to the Lower Bhopal Lake (Chhota Talab) by an aqueduct. There are several causes contributing to water scarcity in India. Rapid urbanisation and industrialisation have led to increased pollution of water bodies, making them unfit for consumption. Additionally, inefficient agricultural practices and excessive groundwater extraction have depleted crucial water sources. Little did I know in 2014, when I left Bangalore for Bhopal, that water would be a big issue for us all in 2024! Less than 10 years. https://lnkd.in/dvNtJMxp

Great insight from Genius Prashant kishor's noble endeavor of bringing change in Bihar through his Padyatra.. One Important excerpt from this interview. 2/3rd of india- rural population lives in less than 20% of villages..Which means in laymen terms ..90% of population lives in 1 lakh villages and there are 7 lakh villages in India...This data on population spread is astonishing....its a gold mine for marketers to have...You have to just target this 20% villages to get the maximum reach of your product.

A few days back, while returning home to, I passed by the Beas River in Punjab and saw something that had really pained me. Right after the beautiful celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi, the process of immersing Shri Ganesha idols in the river itself was nothing but heartbreaking. It was as if we are losing the spiritual significance of the ritual and forgetting that, in our hurry to celebrate, we might forget the true meaning of it all. The sight of idols, many of them from non-biodegradable material, polluting our rivers set me thinking of how we might better strike a balance between our devotion and concern for the environment. It felt as though, for some, ritual had turned into mere show rather than a genuine reverence. I want to note this statement with the highest levels of respect towards all faith and tradition. If my words have caused a dent in somebody's feelings, I am truly sorry for the same. I only hope that at this juncture, we can all stop and think about how we can do that in a manner which goes easy on His Lordship Ganesha and also not antagonistic towards our environment, going forward. #GaneshChaturthi #EcoFriendlyVisarjan #RespectTheEnvironment #SaveOurRivers #SustainableCelebration #DevotionWithResponsibility #ProtectNature #GanpatiBappaMorya #EnvironmentalAwareness #PreserveTradition #MindfulCelebration #BalanceWithNature
