"Remember -- your love for bacon can make a big difference!" Funny, but true. There is a serious side to this too. The Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank is a great organization, and symbolic of many which are responding to food insecurity in our communities. In our particular case our Bank serves, at some point during the year, about 5 percent of our county's population - distributing $5M of food across 16,000+ guest encounters. All of this is made possible by roughly 120 volunteers whose work seems never ending. Those we serve are primarily referred to as ALICE (asset-limited, income-constrained, and employed). In other words, neighbors in situations where one car repair, medical bill, or unexpected expense can force a difficult decision about food. A full 40 percent of those we serve in a year come only once. 70 percent receive food from us four times or less in a year. In our county, and probably yours too, up to 35 percent of our residents fall into the ALICE classification. Those are really staggering numbers when you think about them. And food for thought as well (sorry). If all those numbers seem daunting, come and celebrate some bacon with us! 😁 #foodinsecurity #foodbank #neighborshelpingneighbors

🥜 Many food donation centers hand out peanut butter as one of their main staples for food insecure individuals. Why? ✔️Affordable ✔️High Protein ✔️Variety of Use Thanks to leaders such as Monica Bassett of Stronghold Food Pantry, our food insecure MilVet community is able to receive donations like peanut butter. Below is another episode in my Hellman's Kitchen Budget Friendly series, which is part of the mission being led by Jordan J. Foley of Let’s Chow. The idea is to teach those receiving food donations to use those ingredients wisely, in order to stretch the food as much as possible. 👇 Watch the episode below, give the video a like, and throw in a supportive comment. This drastically helps increase the reach of this episode, which hopefully will help more people learn to cook budget friendly recipes. #militaryfoodinsecurity #militaryleadership #veteransupport #cookingrecipes

Happy Friday!! 😀 IT'S NATIONAL DONUT🍩 DAY!! Author | C. Knighten Every on the 1st Friday in June, we celebrate National Donut Day! One of the most loved fried confections nation wide.....we get to indulge on this day without guilt! HISTORY OF NATIONAL DONUT DAY: We can credit the Salvation Army for helping us celebrate this delicious day! During World War I, a group of volunteers were tasked with providing the soldiers with comforting meals at the frontlines. With limited means to cook, they decided that donuts were their best option. In fact, utensils and pots to cook in were not easy to come by and they discovered that helmets would fry up seven donuts at a time! Later, these brave volunteers were given the nickname “donut lassies”. National Donut Day was established in 1938, as a way to honor those brave members of the Salvation Army for coming to the aid of our troops during World War I. Today, many donut shops appreciate the opportunity to celebrate National Donut Day on the first Friday of June. Many donut shops offer specials or even a 'free' donut on this day! GREAT WAYS TO CELEBRATE THIS DAY: 🍩 Bring Donuts to the Office! If you want to be a hit with the boss and the rest of your team, bring in some hot Krispy Kremes! MMM, MMMM! 😋 🍩 Try a new recipe! Truthfully, donuts are not that difficult to make at home. There are also several types of donuts, from dough and 'cake' to potato🥔donuts....yes, you read that right: Potato Donuts. Look up the recipe and don't waste your leftover mashed taters next time! 🍩Try something new! If you have more than one donut shop in town, give another shop a visit. You never what delicious confections they may have cooked up! So, what is your favorite! Regular glazed, raspberry filled, or something more exotic like a maple bacon? Whatever it is be sure to give a shout on social media 📲for your favorite shop....they will certainly appreciate it! #deancommercialrealestate #commercialrealestate #propertymanagement #investors #retail #medicaloffices #leases #propertyinvestors #warehouses #huntsville #madison #athens

Well done to Eat Wild and to Tops Day Nursery. Well researched and written piece in the Times here pointing out the cost to drivers and to agriculture of deer overpopulation in the UK. Only when the militant, anti hunting vegetarians and vegans realise the threat to UK agriculture and the implications of relying solely on imported foods will media such as the BBC and the other left wing media realise how important game hunting and personal choice is. As it is we have a multitude of famers having issues with poorly thought out laws and guidelines, DEFRA allows pollution of the waterways and their IT system is causing issues with subsidy payments to farmers. These same farmers have to cope with supermarkets failing to pay them a fair rate for their produce leaving the UK with millions of acres of grassland and farmland lost to carbon credit woodland and development since 2010 (see farming UK July 2022 or the Independent July 2020). Farmland enough to produce 250,000 tonnes of homegrown food per annum gone forever. Perhaps it is now time to support game shooting and famers alike before the UK becomes a concrete metropolis incapable of sustaining any meaningful home grown produce? Well BBC News The Labour Party will you support UK sustainably and sensible game hunting?
🗞️BREAKING NEWS 🗞️ We are unbelievably proud to have secured this full-page piece in The Times today, which highlights Eat Wild’s work to put wild meat on the menu at a collective of schools, Tops Day Nurseries. This is a huge, multi-faceted win for the countryside community and we are honoured to be successfully spreading the word about the multiple benefits of eating wild meat. https://lnkd.in/emuYa5QW Claire Zambuni Emma Sandham Iona Mackay

IT’S GRILL TO GIVE DAY!!🍔🌭 We’re cooking up some hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken for a few homeless and an assisted living home. …and once again, I’m pausing my vegan diet to partake in some juicy grilled turkey sausage. 😂😉😋 The best thing about Grill to Give is that you can join in the fun as well. Here’s how: 1. Grill 10 extra hamburgers or hot dogs. 2. Package them with chips, water, and a dessert. 3. Give them to someone in need of food. Your generosity can make a big difference in someone's day. If you choose to give, please remember to: - Exercise safety - Use the buddy system - Stay hydrated Let's spread the love and help our neighbors! Share your efforts with us using the hashtag #Grill2Give. Together, we can grill for a cause! 🌭🍔❤️ #Grill2Give #IndependenceDay #GiveBack #Community #4thofJuly 👍 Like and 🔄 Share to spread the word!

Hello friends family and acquaintances today is COW APPRECIATION DAY | Second Tuesday in July! Have you herd? Things go udderly awry in the middle of July each year during Cow Appreciation Day. People dress like bovines for free food. It's a moo-ving experience to witness designed to save the lives of cows everywhere for just one day. How? By eating chicken instead, that's how. Across the country, for one day only, adults and children alike herd into their local Chick-fil-A for their favorite cow meal. And it's not hay. #CowAppreciationDay Across the country, for one day only, adults and children alike herd into their local Chick-fil-A for their favorite cow meal. And it's not hay. Spotted cowls of black and white hoof it across town. Between baseball and soccer, they steer themselves toward the nearest grazing. If it feels like deja-moo, perhaps you've joined in the stampede a time or two. They arrive in cars, trucks, and even cow-a-sakies. Even though the crowds grow and grow, there's never any need to beef up security. While some of us may be outstanding in our fields, we should get a mooove on before it's pasture time to get free food. Even the dairies across the country have joined the herd. They remind everyone of the good products cows and producers bring our way. It's a positive way of milking a celebration and utilizing both sides of the hide. #CowAppreciationDay #dallasharristips
