Intelligent analysis of where we are, and how to think about it.
“Canada is a middle power. If we’re not at the table, we’ll be on the menu,” said Mark Carney at this week’s #USCanadaSummit. “Question is: being at the table, what’s our recipe?”

We are entering a decisive decade, where the clash of geopolitics and economics will determine the prospects for Canadians’ jobs and prosperity. No country is better positioned than Canada to lead — and the strength of the Canada-US partnership will be essential. We can have all the advantages: - leadership in the energies of the present and the future; - the skills to put the new era of intelligence to work for all; - being the magnet for the best and brightest from around the world; and - the shared values to move forward. This week’s Canada-US summit with Eurasia Group & BMO highlighted the urgency of making this a time to act and a time to build, by shaping this once-in-a-century moment to our advantage.

Former Executive Director at International Monetary Fund/World Bank and Deputy Minister, Canadian Public Service
Excellent articulation of the significant issues facing Canada below. The key will be the suite of policies (that must be developed with data and evidence) that can address/support the achievement of Canada’s objectives. Also, and importantly, without proper execution we cannot achieve any outcomes. How will we change the way we approach implementation that results in the best outcomes? Better use of data and evidence will be key to both the development of policies and achieving results.

eden may - local property experts, we sell, let and manage property in Taunton and the surrounding areas. We build relationships by putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.
A very productive meeting with Bethan from All About You planning our marketing strategy for the next 18 months. So many ideas, some very exciting projects planned! Bethan had just come from another successful Taunton Chamber of Commerce breakfast event, so it was a double whammie as I caught up on loc business news too! Very fitting that we put our heads together over some herbal teas from Mr Miles 😊 #localbusiness #localagent #supportlocalbusiness #tauntonsomerset #tauntonbusiness #taunton

Some inspiring words from Mark Carney in his speech below. Canada needs more of this, not less. Hope, vision, clarity of purpose, and experience to get it done. As a Canadian abroad I can only hope that we see not only strengthening in vision at home, but that we once again find our place and our voice in the world. We lack for nothing in our country, yet somewhere it feels like we have lost our focus. We were always a land with a strong social safety net, a clear moral compass, welcoming to all, and a nation of abundance. Today, we are leaving people behind, our middle class is losing strength and hope, we see immigrants leaving, and stories about our world-class healthcare system no longer meeting the needs of the population at a basic level. We face a decisive decade ahead for Canada. It will take strong leadership, fresh vision, and a coming together of public and private sector players to move from concept to reality. I hope our country finds the right team to take on the challenge.

Cicada FAQs: How long are they going to be here? Cicadas live underground for up to 17 years depending on the type of brood. When cicadas emerge, they molt into adults, mate, lay eggs and then die. The lifecycle of a cicada above ground, following their periodical emergence, typically lasts from a few weeks to over a month. Due to two separate brood types of cicadas emerging at once this year, cicadas could be around for up to two months.
