We urgently call on UNICEF to implement stronger and more effective measures to halt the killing of children and ensure justice. It is imperative that they immediately voice their concerns to the head of state directly and the international community. Additionally, we urge UNICEF to: 1. Mobilize international pressure to hold accountable those responsible for these atrocities. 2. Increase advocacy efforts to bring global attention to the plight of children in Bangladesh. 3. Deploy resources to protect vulnerable children and provide support to affected families. 4. Collaborate with local organizations to strengthen child protection mechanisms. 5. Ensure transparent investigations and prosecutions of those involved in these crimes. This crisis demands immediate and decisive action to safeguard the lives and rights of children. #Unicef #UnicefBangladesh

🔊 Amplifying Victims' Voices in Yemen: A Call for Justice In the ongoing pursuit of justice for Yemen, it is crucial that the voices of victims, especially children affected by landmine violations in Taiz, are amplified and their demands are heard. Center for Strategic Studies to Support Women and Children members of the #Justice4Yemen Coalition, had implemented a special session dedicated to listening to these #victims. Their perspectives on redress and rehabilitation are vital and should be integral to any transitional justice process. Every story shared is a step towards healing and a call for accountability. Founder and Executif Director at Gingando pela Paz, social capoeira specialist in child protection programs
The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing a social and humanitarian crisis that has lasted more than four decades. The actions of different armed groups have forced hundreds of thousands of people to abandon their homes, lands and their roots. In the North Kivu region, in the east of the country, the conflict between the March 23 Movement, commonly known as M23, and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) has forced thousands of people to seek refuge in the area bordering the city of Goma, giving rise to several camps where they live in an extremely precarious situation, with little or no access to the most basic resources. In this terrifying scenario, children and women are the two groups that suffer the most, being exposed to the worst forms of physical and emotional violence. The presence of armed groups in the camps increases the risks, especially for children and young people. In this context, we work with Gingando pela Paz Present in the Mudja, Bushagara and Don Bosco camps, which together host around 48,600 people, our actions contribute to reinforcing the protection of children and strengthening the capacity of young people so that they can act as agents of peace. And let’s Gingando pela Paz!
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, more than 7 million people have been forced to leave their homes because of armed conflicts. In 2023, in the province of North Kivu, sexual violence against women increased by 73% compared to 2022. In the first half of 2023 alone, the region recorded 20,771 cases of violence against women. According to UNICEF during the same period, 3,377 cases of violence against children were recorded. The strong presence of armed groups, militias and gangs increases the risks of recruitement and other types of exploitation. In response to this situation, to reinforce child protection and strengthen community resilience in the face of numerous threats and challenges, the "Social Capoeira: Resilience and Dialogue for Peace" project was launched, with the aim of integrating Social Capoeira into the response. Funded by the German cooperation through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH the project benefits children and young people from internally displaced camps in Goma, DRC. Survivors are at the heart of what we do. Survivors like Kumar, David, Karolina and Pachaiyammal are just a few of the many light bearers and change-makers in this movement to bring freedom. Kumar feels as a social worker, he can help survivors through the process of obtaining government services for freed bonded labourers. “As each family holds their ID cards or entitlements, it gives me a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment that I have played a part in their journey,” he says. Pachaiyammal is adamant that we need to work together: she says, “I have one dream: to eradicate slavery completely from my country. I invite each one of you to join hands to fight against this evil slavery completely, across the globe.” She leads a network of more than 2,000 women and men who are using their freedom to advocate for others. Karolina has been working with IJM in Romania to help protect fellow refugees from trafficking: “I feel their pain, their frustration, their fear… I’m trying to support them as much as I can.” David Makara is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. “I call upon all of us, young and old, to work for the thousands of people who are going through abuses and have no one to fight for them.” – David David, Pachaiyammal and others are boldly speaking out as leaders in IJM’s Global Survivor Network. We believe, as these leaders do, that a survivor-led movement will change the world' – Global Survivor Network.
