In 2020, I was told constantly “keep doing the LinkedIn stuff, but make sure you hit the call and email numbers because that’s how you’ll hit target” They thought: More SDRs = More calls More calls/emails = More Meetings More meetings = More pipeline But that just wasn’t the case. In reality, even back in 2020 the buyer experience within payments was far from binary or linear. Fast forward to now and I’m still having conversations with executives that still push back on the notion that MARKETING forms so much of the B2B buyer experience. It’s how buyers come across, learn, review and purchase B2B products. If you’ve been following Acquired for long enough, you’ll know our approach to GTM is slightly unconventional in our industry. Podcasts, thought leaders/evangelists and co-creation programmes to name a few things. And because of this, we have some amazing deep routed partnerships, top accounts coming inbound and a much wider brand presence. -------------------- Ps. During a short podcast at Pay360 this year. I explained why it’s extremely important that your Marketing, Sales and Partnerships team work together as an integrated revenue team. All aligned on the companies top targets and how you’re going to help them. My approach to new business in payments fell of deaf ears for 3-4 years. Go and ask your customers: - Why did you choose us? - What would be your first steps to replace us? You’ll soon know why your SDR function isn't performing.
