Celebrating World Photography Day: The Essence of Architectural Photography On this World Photography Day, I’m reminded of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s insight: “Photography is the act of aligning the head, the heart, and the eye in a single axis.” This quote captures how I feel when photographing architecture—a fusion of my mind, emotions, and vision. It’s a way to create a snapshot of the space-time continuum, intertwining my personal daily experiences with the architectural essence I aim to capture. In architectural photography, it’s crucial to show not just the structure but also its interaction with people and its place within the urban fabric. I strive to capture how buildings come to life, exceeding their intended purpose and blending with the community in surprising ways. I’m inspired by the works of Julius Shulman and Ezra Stoller, and contemporary photographers like Iwan Baan, Marc Goodwin, Fernando Guerra, and José Hevia, whose perspectives bring new dimensions to architectural storytelling. Fortunately, I’ve had the privilege of photographing projects for different architects, including L35 Architects. I have been part of the design team of some of these projects, which adds a unique layer to my work, connecting the design process with its final visual representation. I invite you to explore my Instagram (https://lnkd.in/gCvpZ73G), a visual journey through architecture, cities, and landscapes. The design approach here is simple: honor the architecture, elevate the comfort. I love how much warmth the wood beams bring into the fold... Photography: Kuoh Photography

3D Visualisation - Night view options Recent enquiries have raised the question of night views, so here is our approach at Pedersen Focus: As a lot of our work involves planning applications, we prefer to use actual real world photography shot at dusk, as opposed to attempting to turn a day time photo into night. Judge for yourself, the attached photo is a verifiable photomontage prepared for The Prism on Clontarf Street, Cork designed by Reddy Architecture + Urbanism. #architecturalvisualization #photography #corkcity #irishproperty #planningapplication

The perfect example of the KISS principle (Keep it Simple Stupid). This house in Arthurs Point, Queenstown is basically a two story rectangle. The interesting elevation is created by shading elements, modulated to let the light in, but cut out too much sun in the summer. By keeping it simple, not only is the cost of building reduced, due to less materials, un-complex details which equals less waste and less carbon. A simple form also means the building takes less energy to heat, being the simplest and cheapest way to create a low energy house. Do you know what are the Grid Lines in photography for? Grids are lines that divide your frame into third parts both horizontally and vertically, creating a grid of nine equal squares where you will place the main topic of your picture. By applying the grid lines you can create a balanced and appealing composition. Whether you are shooting landscapes, architecture, or a portrait, grid lines will help you to build symmetry and balance within your photo, resulting in a more harmonious image. Grid lines give you guidance on how to place elements in your pictures. But remember, photography is an art, so it means it is ok to break the rules sometimes! How do you use the Grid lines in your photos?
