Catella Residential Investment Management (CRIM) has acquired an Elithis energy-positive residential tower in Clermont-Ferrand, France, for around €29 million. https://lnkd.in/gR7dyvti It contains 91 apartments and has an attached low-rise building. Sales of the surplus energy to the national grid will provide a bonus to residents according to how sustainably they manage their homes through a proptech app. The holistic concept designed by the French sustainable engineering specialist Elithis Groupe at standard market construction costs includes bioclimatic design, high energy efficiency, on-site energy production and tenant's energy coaching. Wow, what a great idea Lendlease. Putting a green roof, and solar panels together for synergistic outcomes. I find this Exciting News! 🌿☀️ A comprehensive study validates the beneficial impact of integrating green roofs with solar panels. Led by the University of Technology Sydney researchers and supported by Lendlease and Junglefy, the study compared conventional solar panels with an integrated Junglefy green roof system over eight months in Barangaroo. The key findings highlight the remarkable benefits, which include: - 3.6% increase in solar energy output (9.5 MWh) with the integrated green roof and solar PV system, due to reduced heating. - Removal of 8.8 tons of CO2 equivalent, equivalent to planting 110 trees. - Surface temperature reductions on the roof of up to 20°C during summer, potentially mitigating urban heat island effects. - Improved insulation prevents heat transfer inside the building and retains heat in cooler periods. - Increase in insect life and bird life, supporting biodiversity. - Stormwater modelling shows a reduction of over 600 litres per second, reducing flood impacts during intense storms. 🌐 This research reinforces that integrated green roofs and solar PV systems outperform conventional setups and are a win for energy efficiency, carbon reduction, biodiversity, and climate resilience. More incredibly good news to share as Mallard Pass Solar Farm is consented by Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero following a recommendation for approval by PINS. Mallard Pass, brought forward by Windel Energy and Recurrent Energy, will become one of the UK’s largest #solar ☀ farms generating enough clean energy to power 92,000 homes annually. It is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. We were part of a fantastic team, with Pinsent Masons Counter Context Ltd Ardent Humbeat and DWD. LDA Design Director and Trustee, Robert Pile said the decision was great news because, "the UK needs to pick up the pace in decarbonising #energy and achieving net zero, and consents for projects at this scale signal a decisive response to #climate breakdown." It has been a hugely collaborative project for us, bringing together LDA Design's #EIA #Masterplanning #EnvironmentalPlanning and #Planning services – a first for us on a project of this kind. This combination was key to establishing a framework for good design and delivering against outcomes for climate, people, place and value.
