How to see your team potential from market perspective? Today I am looking for some talents for the position inside our Shenzhen HQ to support the automated parking system solution design and new business developing for logistics and moving robots. I used the popular platform Boss zhipin. Frankly, there are many talents there but with much much higher cost than I expected. Even, frankly, the right person can achieve much more value than that package. The difficulty is to justify that in a short time from interview. If we look back to the current team, and they are doing great but still not really with that package that I found from the platform today. So very interesting question comes into my mind naturally, how we retain the talents we already have? And how we attract more, sustainably, with the right package or something meaning more far from that? As now, we can contribute them the value to work on lots of innovative projects, pretty great learning opportunities to be premium talents in the market. But what really can attract them, sooner or later? A quite interesting question and we really lost of some great talents within these years. How about your situation?

CEO @ Dovetail & Slate | Education Recruitment Experts | CEO of Talentia Group | Employment Consultancy | Employer Branding | B Corp Certified| ADHD Infused | Workplace Culture | Hiring Process Management | RPO/MSP/MS |
Culture - it's vital. I decided to bring all of Talentia Group | B Corp™ into our HQ in Bristol - from all the corners of the UK. We needed to realign what makes us the best, what values we hold dear and what things we needed to stop doing. This culture that binds us together is a unilateral agreement is that we want our clients to describe us as the 'best' and if they don't, we need to do better. We all agreed to hold ourselves to a higher standard, which has had an immediate impact, I've seen CVs sent over to clients as late as 9 pm. Don't worry we don't need a reply outside your core hours! It's no secret, that January was a tough month with the new year growing slowly until we finally woke up at the end. My team has all agreed to be held to account for delivering for our customers, so if you see my name in your inbox asking for feedback or assistance, we are on a journey to be the very BEST at what we do and that means your voice matters massively to us. I welcome any existing or new clients, to hold us to the standard that you expect from your best recruitment partner, trust me - we will deliver. So very proud of my team - they dream as big as I do. #culture #standards #dreambig #doyourbest #delivering #whateverittakes

CEO | Provides Ownership for Payroll Sales Reps | Top 50 Biz To Watch | Top 100 Fastest Growing biz 12x
When your company grows, it’s critical to add like-minded individuals that match your values to strengthen your team. If you don’t, you’re team will adjust to something you may not envision and it could be a huge challenge to bring it back to what it was. This is a perfect segway to one of our newest team members, Luke Martin. A fun and driven professional with a big heart that cares. Luke has already made a significant impact with his enthusiasm and readiness to dive in. I don’t know if he believes me when I say this, but his fearless approach to leading projects is something that is unique. I highly recommend anyone stepping into a new role follows this path. My advice for any new hires joining a team… 1) EMBRACE CHALLENGES: Companies hire you to alleviate current or future pressure or friction. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, they need you. 2) BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF: Remember, you won’t have experience, but that’s ok. Your unique insights are invaluable. 3) DIVE IN: Dont be afraid to jump in with both feet. Be afraid of sitting back. Even if your ideas aren’t taken, it stirs productive results by you being involved and speaking up. Luke, your passion and drive are clear. Your ability to educate (or as some would say “sell”), train, and contribute to major projects like *Juno Ai* 🤫 is very impressive. This journey is going to be fun, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things we'll achieve together!

Decide now how you'll approach the next new team you'll lead. Make up your mind that you'll begin with a clean slate, open mind and no expectations. Whether moving within an organization or joining a new organization you will get a lot of information about the team's prior performance, culture along with some expectations on where you're expected to have impact. Remember you're just learning the what. Whether it's a high performing team or a team that hasn't been meeting goal your primary responsibility is the same. Connect with the people first. Yes, it's natural to focus on the data, performance and process. All of that is the what. Our real opportunity to quickly have impact is to learn the how and why. This is the context you need that can only come from the people. How will you ensure you lay the best foundation for impact through connection when joining your next team? (or do you need to leverage this approach with your current team to increase your impact?)
