🤔 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐈 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬?🤔 A question I often get asked. As a former Chief Compliance Officer I understand the need. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬: - Some AI systems make decisions without providing a clear rationale. - This makes it challenging to assess fairness in scenarios like hiring or public benefit schemes. - Existing legislation falls short in addressing these unique challenges posed by AI systems. 📜 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐔 𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥: • Target risks specific to AI applications • Prohibit AI practices with unacceptable risks • Identify and list high-risk applications • Impose clear requirements for AI systems in high-risk applications • Define obligations for deployers and providers of high-risk AI applications • Mandate a conformity assessment before AI systems hit the market • Implement enforcement post-market placement • Establish a robust governance structure at both European and national levels What are your thoughts on the EU AI Act? How do you see them shaping the trustworthiness of AI in our society?  #AIRegulation #EUAIACT #TechEthics #TrustInAI #InnovationWithIntegrity

What measures will be in place for smaller startups? The regulation sounds comprehensive, but won't prevent innovation by imposing too steep barriers.

Will there be a consultation process for identifying high-risk applications? Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders could enhance the Act's effectiveness.

I appreciate the emphasis on a risk-based approach. It shows that the EU acknowledges the vast potential of AI, alongside its dangers.

It's interesting to see the EU taking a lead on this. Proper regulation could indeed increase trust in AI applications among the general public.

One of my concerns is the enforcement of such regulations. How will the EU ensure that companies comply with the AI Act's requirements?
