As the 2024 presidential election draws near, I'm eager to share my past experience as a volunteer at a polling station, highlighting the profound impact of voting and the urgency for all to participate. My involvement at the polling station was marked by early preparations and a commitment to assist every voter. From setting up essential materials to aiding in the registration process, each step was crucial in facilitating a vital democratic practice. A key aspect of my role was helping unregistered individuals become conditional voters, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to have their say on election day. This reflects the inclusive spirit of our electoral system and echoes California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D.'s powerful words at the Day in the Capitol: "You are a powerful force in the state of California" and "You are a powerhouse if you choose to be a powerhouse." The low turnout of young voters was a stark reminder of the work that lies ahead. It's a personal mission for me now to encourage my peers to realize the "power of our vote, the power of our voice." As students and young professionals, we must advocate for our interests, from increased funding and opportunities to representation that reflects our diverse voices. Secretary Weber's remarks resonate deeply, reminding us that "California will only survive because it has an educated populace." Our state has made significant strides to ensure inclusivity in voting, extending rights to those on parole, probation, and even those in jail. Her message is clear: we hold the same electoral power as any governor or president—one person, one vote. It's a sobering thought that not so long ago, many fought for the right to vote—a right that some today do not exercise. We must honor their legacy by using our given right to vote and encouraging others to do the same, for the betterment of our society. Let's unite to make our voices heard this election. How Schools Can Prepare Students to Vote for the First Time

⭐High School Voter Education Weeks run April 15th through 26th throughout the state of California. ⭐As of today, SLO County has just over 1,000 16- and 17-year-old high school students pre-registered to vote. This means that they will automatically become active registered voters on their 18th birthday. Many of those who are already pre-registered will get to vote for the first time in the November 5th General Election. ⭐VOTING IS POWERFUL. San Antonio’s NEISD Election Loss In a sad turn of events, all the conservative Republican school board candidates were defeated in Bexar County’s conservative, Republican-dominated north side. Only 2.99% of the registered voters turned out, or 37,476 votes, were cast countywide, including other elections, out of 1,254,309 registered voters. But why could conservative groups and Republican leaders not turn out more than 2% of the registered voters to win in the North East School District school board elections in neighborhoods they dominate? Public schools are the indoctrinating ground for the Left. The students in public schools represent the future of the Left, and they will fight hard to protect the public schools that they have successfully taken over and held for a generation. As with every Presidental election, we're being flooded with arguments for abolishing the Electoral College for the Popular vote. Not only would that destroy the integrity of our election process, but it would ignore the majority of states, as it would only take 6-7 of the most populated urban centers to gain 50% +1 to win. The Electoral College is essential to representative government as candidates must gain a nationwide consensus of his/her policies and goals for America. Electoral College needs to be modified or eliminated I believe originally the electrical college was assigned to have electors who are former government officials or former elected officials could change their vote if somebody was either unqualified or dangerous to our democracy Since states determine how electors will vote, the safeguard does not exist. A candidate for president can win the presidency and still lose by millions of votes example Trump versus Clinton in 2016 That disenfranchises all those millions citizens who voted for the candidate who won the popular vote. It seems now one party is using the electoral college map to win elections, even though they lose the popular vote: the Republican Party. 2000 disputed results in Florida resulted in finally Bush instead of Core becoming president because they couldn’t decide on a vote recount before the certification of the election. 2016 Clinton 59,000 votes in three states Michigan Wisconsin and Pennsylvania out of 18 1/2 million votes cast gave those three states to Trump. Thus he won the electoral college and thus he won the election though Trump lost by 3 million votes to Hillary Clinton. We should have electors vote according to the percentages of popular vote in each state or eliminate elect college and just go on the popular vote thus not disenfranchising the votes of the of the citizens of the popular vote winner.
