Most Sydney apartments are built for the needs of investors, not inhabitants. Three-bedders are scarce and mostly in inner Sydney, where adult-only households predominate. 150,000 NSW kids live in apartments that are not designed for them and, at the same time, our provision of social housing as a stigma-free dwelling type has fallen well below international standards. Whilst the majority of projects that we undertake are based in London and the South East, we do sometimes venture further up north when we see the opportunity to create something special. And when given the chance to purchase an old public house in Oulton, Leeds, that was set in ¾ acres of land, we certainly weren’t going to turn it down. Following the purchase of the land and a successful planning application, we were able to gain approval for the development of a new luxury care home, specialising in tailored, residential dementia care.
