MND action month is coming up. If you don't know how to deal with a friend or colleague with MND, here's some suggestions. Message them to ask them how they are doing. Ask if they need anything from the supermarket/fish shop when you are there. If you had a good relationship, ask if they want you to call in for a cuppa/to say hi, or offer to take them somewhere fun/interesting. I've been lucky to have fun and laughs with friends and colleagues since diagnosis, and always appreciate a nice message from people I have connected with in the past. This disease takes everything - hopes and dreams, money, physical abilities, independence, voice, and finally their breath. It is tough on the person and their family. I find it particularly tragic when it strikes someone with a young family, where there is a familial gene mutation and children have a 50:50 chance of inheriting it, or where it is fast progressing. Many people do not last a year after diagnosis - I call this fast and furious. Progression can be relentless requiring continual adaptation to new losses of function. Consider supporting the organisation that helps them and their family on this challenging journey, advocates for them and funds research. Do the ice bucket challenge, host a cuppa tea for MND or make a donation to MND NZ. Your support matters.
MND Action Month is back for 2024! 💙 Gather your workmates, your whānau, and your friends and let’s do whatever we can to make time count for people with motor neurone disease this June. When raising awareness about tough diseases, like MND, there’s no denying that conversation and connection go a long way. Recognizing this power of connection, we invite you to host a Cuppa Tea for MND ☕ or take on the iconic Ice Bucket Challenge 🧊 to raise vital funds, share stories, and encourage Kiwis to learn about the personal, social, and financial challenges that MND brings. We've seen incredible community support in the past, and this year, we're asking for help from businesses and organisations who share our passion for making a difference to people affected by MND 🙌 By taking action this June, you’ll help to grow support, information, and advocacy to make time count for those affected today, as well as supporting research for a future free from MND. Visit www.mndactionmonth.org.nz for all the details and to sign up.

"Twice as many donors become major donors after established multi-year giving histories – some even longer than 20 years. And, on average, a donor will have a 9+ year giving history before making a major gift." The data proves that the multi-year gift commitment is applicable to all donors, regardless of the initial gift size or designation. Getting everyday donors comfortable with multi-year giving is the first step in paying more attention.

Ever wonder about informal milk sharing? I created Share the Drop to facilitate informal peer to peer milk sharing locally, and in real time. Popular online sharing groups rely on forum based posts, which is time consuming and clunky. This app provides the same service, in real time with instant notifications. Let's help #feedallthebabies and support community.
Wonder how Share the Drop works? Donors and recipients create profiles detailing infant needs and family preferences. Bios are visible in the feed, facilitating matches and messages. It's that straightforward! #feedallthebabies #supportfamilies #normalizwinformalmilksharing
