“I’m not the first person to remind us that if a machine is soulless then it’s because no one bothered to put the soul in there” — Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton played four different roles in artist Lynn Hershman Leeson’s 2002 film “Teknolust,” a hilarious sexual-biogenetic comedy focused on AI and how we live with it. In Leeson’s created worlds, digital code is the DNA of the future and artificial intelligence can be intelligent art.

Is AI and the dark side of the web a gateway to the darker sides of human nature?

Film Director | Experiential and Artificial Intelligence
Today is a big day. Today we might of just made a little bit of history. Over the last 6 months I’ve been working with 50 of the most brilliant A.I. Artist to create one of the world’s first feature-length films created entirely with artificial intelligence.
“Our T2 Remake” marks a new milestone where entire movies can now be created with the help of machines. Think about this… we remade the most expensive film of 1991 for $0, how wild is that?
Enjoy the trailer to this parody & if you’re in LA you should attend the big premiere in Hollywood happening March 6th.

Amidst all the fear that AI will destroy our existing content pipelines - it takes bold people to just go and build the new ones. Here is a toast to the 50 artists to brought this parody together: to the hustle, to the work hard, to the collaboration. As much as AI tools are very confusing to traditional production ... they are hugely empowering to the motivated creators. This would have been impossible without the current AI tools. But also impossible with the ingenuity of the creative community.
There is another layer of bravery here. All these artists are working for *free* and not getting paid ... (because its a parody, they don't own rights for an official remake, are working under fan art, if they make a profit, the legal implications) ... which just shows how much of a risk everyone is taking to work hard and make no money. So go give them the credit they deserve!
I mean 50 humans working hard to breath new life into something. Thats pretty badass. It's not 1 click auto-remake. (I know, I know, ai models slurp other content to even get started, copyright is a horrible mess, living in a world of nothing but AI remakes is more dystopian than the terminator, there are tons of problems with everyone copying everything ... but still )... the hard work of artists should some how be protectable, and compensatable. The creators are not machines or GPUs or capital expenses. They need to feed themselves, and many have families to feed too. Copyright needs a serious upgrade to address the union of human creative work coupled with ai machinery. Document your hard work, everyone. Time may reveal that you own your ai work if you can show the work *you* did to make it.

Toward the end of last year, Nem Perez & Sway Molina assembled fifty AI artists and enthusiasts from all over the globe to partake in one of the craziest projects that anyone has ever dreamt up - a parody remake of Terminator 2 made using only AI tools.
I was lucky to be part of that fifty, and honoured to have collaborated with some of the titans of the AI filmmaking scene.
What came out it was more than an extremely fun movie. For many of us playing with generative video at the time, it was the first time we ever had to do something to a brief - learning just how infuriating AI can be when you have something specific in mind!
The knowledge base that grew organically out of that - those fifty individuals sharing notes, ideas, and workflows, everything from how to successfully blend AI with real footage to ensuring consistency within entirely AI-generated footage - led to, I'd like to think, some of the progress in AI storytelling that we've seen over the last three or four months.
A week ago Sora landed on the scene and ripped up the (hard fought for) rule book. But, I couldn’t have put it better than Ryan Phillips (aka Uncanny Harry) who says the Our T2 Remake now stands as “a living document of/love letter to all of the pre SORA generative AI tech”.
Whether the film gets its well deserved ovation - or lives in infamy - is irrelevant. It played a huge part in my own personal AI history, and led to some creative connections that will live long beyond the next iteration of whatever AI tool steals the limelight next.
Long live the T2 class of 2023!

The videos below come out of OpenAIs text-to-video generator Sora and are a little bit mind-blowing.
I arrived today at Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) for the Think Tank session on "Generative AI in the Film and Series Industry" SERIENCAMP CONFERENCE is hosting with European Film Market – EFM on Sunday - and I honestly feel a little bit stumped.
Two weeks ago on a panel at TV Drama Vision at Göteborg Film Festival we idly speculated about the timeline until AI-generated videos won't be distinguishable from "real film". Going with the generals consensus I offered 12-16 months. Slightly off, as it looks. By almost a year.

The world's first full-length AI film, Finalist 2: Judgment Day, was released in North America.
It does not use any footage, dialogue or music from the original film, ensuring that everything in the film is original or AI-generated.
全球首部AI长篇电影《终结者2:审判日》北美上映。
它没有使用原电影中的任何镜头、对话或音乐,确保这部电影所有内容均为原创或由AI生成。
Have you heard of the Nephilim, the Giants, or the Book of Enoch?
In my latest AI film intro teaser, you'll get to know more about them. This is part of the Return Of King film, set to be released in January 2025. The entire sequence is generated using text-to-video, with music composed by AI Neon Nova.
