'Self care is a therapist, not a bubble bath' Thanks Liana Fricker for reminding me to attend this event hosted by The Happiness Index. This was a mic drop moment, and I 100% agree that therapy is the ultimate self care. This becomes non negotiable when staff are exposed to secondary trauma. My strong opinion is that employers have a responsibility and duty of care to provide trauma focused therapeutic support to their staff if they are exposed to secondary trauma on a regular basis. #vicarioustrauma #secondarytrauma #burnoutprevention #legalprofessionals #caringprofessionals

Therapy has come a very long way over the years; therapists use a range of different models and techniques to achieve a wide variety of different aims and goals. We understand far more about things like trauma and relationship dynamics than we ever have before — therapy today is not like it was twenty years ago, or even ten years ago. It’s a field that’s constantly evolving. As we’ve all experienced over the past few years, physical presence is crucial to creating and maintaining healthy relationships, of all kinds. We, as human beings, struggle to find the level of connection required for healthy relationships when we are unable to be physically present with each other.
