The team will assess Barratt’s water-related risks and opportunities and identify the magnitude of potential environmental impact, establishing where their biggest impacts lie and where they have the most ability to influence them. 🏗️WRc has a long history of working within the construction sector and we are excited to be starting new relationships. 💪Currently, the government is considering new policies and approaches to reduce water consumption across the nation, so it is increasingly important that businesses, in all industries, evaluate their water footprints and maximise their water resilience. 👷♀️I’ve been with RSE for just over a month now, and it feels like the honeymoon period is turning into a lasting love story! This isn’t just a fleeting first impression—RSE is truly is amazing. They understand the land, the water sources, and the unique challenges that come with them. This local knowledge is something no technical manual can provide. But it’s more than just knowledge. When communities have a hand in shaping their water systems, they take pride in them. They’re more likely to maintain them, spot issues early, and work together to keep everything running smoothly. This photo was taken in December but better late than never to talk about the *almost* complete group of wonderful people making a big change to the water sector, here in Victoria! We're the Steering Committee for the VicWater Recycled Products' Database project. VicWater, Barwon Water, North East Water, Yarra Valley Water, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) have partnered with Aurecon to research what exciting #recycledproducts are on the Vic market right now, and how to increase their uptake for #contractors and #watercorporations themselves. It's been a great experience working with like-minded passionate people, and discussing how the results will #positivelyimpact the water sector. We look forward to sharing the results once the project's finalised. Why don't we talk about stewardship? Everything has become so short-term. There are: - One-year earnings calls. - One-year return on investment. - And KPI's driven by months and quarters. For example, water companies in the UK are driven by shareholder returns on an annual basis. In doing this they have abandoned the stewardship of the environment. They pour sewerage into rivers, but they don't update infrastructure, or build new works that would avoid the worse that they are doing. Stewardship means the responsible management and care of resources, be they natural, financial or organisational. Yet none of this appears in organisations or government annual plans. Long-term matters, generational matters. Sometimes being more punk means doing the opposite of what is happening now. Perhaps it's time to get government and companies to think about stewardship... #bemorepunk #disruptivepunks #stewardship
