Recommendation for Waterworth: A Valuable Partner for Local Governments I’ve had the pleasure of consulting with Waterworth for the past three and a half years, and I can confidently say that they are a game-changer for local governments. Managing water, sewer, storm drain and solid waste systems is no small feat, especially when it comes to ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining top-notch service for communities. Waterworth has consistently proven to be an invaluable tool, offering data-driven insights and intuitive financial modeling that empower local governments to make informed, proactive decisions. In addition to its impact on water management, I also had the opportunity to use Waterworth's software for one of my local government customers to set rates for their solid waste franchisee. The platform’s versatility and precision made the process seamless, ensuring fair and sustainable rates that benefited both the community and the service provider. Whether you’re navigating the complexities of rate setting, capital planning, or long-term financial stability, Waterworth provides the clarity and support needed to balance today’s demands with tomorrow’s challenges. Their platform and team bring both expertise and innovation, helping municipalities stay ahead of the curve in water management and beyond. If your local government is looking to enhance its financial strategies, I highly recommend partnering with Waterworth. They are a true asset to any public agency aiming to achieve financial and operational excellence. #Waterworth #LocalGovernment #PublicFinance #WaterManagement #SolidWasteManagement #Sustainability #FinancialPlanning

🤝WRc is proudly working with Barratt Developments plc. to identify where they can improve their water impact throughout their whole value chain. 💧The project, lead by WRc’s Director of ESG Kit Elmes, is expected to provide Barratt with a best-in-class approach to water stewardship. The team will assess Barratt’s water-related risks and opportunities and identify the magnitude of potential environmental impact, establishing where their biggest impacts lie and where they have the most ability to influence them. 🏗️WRc has a long history of working within the construction sector and we are excited to be starting new relationships. 💪Currently, the government is considering new policies and approaches to reduce water consumption across the nation, so it is increasingly important that businesses, in all industries, evaluate their water footprints and maximise their water resilience. Project Consultant💧Host of Women in Water Podcast💧 Persuasive Speaker and Creative writer 💧Implementing practices to provide safe and clean drinking water to vulnerable community💧Promoting SDG6 in Myanmar
Sustainable water management starts with the community. When it comes to managing water in our communities, I've learned that the best solutions don’t just come from experts—they come from the people who live there. Water systems thrive when they’re built with the community, not just for them. Engaging with local stakeholders—our neighbors, community leaders, and even the kids who play by the streams—brings invaluable insights. They understand the land, the water sources, and the unique challenges that come with them. This local knowledge is something no technical manual can provide. But it’s more than just knowledge. When communities have a hand in shaping their water systems, they take pride in them. They’re more likely to maintain them, spot issues early, and work together to keep everything running smoothly. It’s this shared responsibility that leads to real, lasting success. So, whenever we talk about sustainable water management, let’s remember that it’s not just about infrastructure. It’s about people. By working together, we can build water systems that truly serve and last for generations. #WaterManagement #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability #TogetherWeThrive #LocalLeadership

This photo was taken in December but better late than never to talk about the *almost* complete group of wonderful people making a big change to the water sector, here in Victoria! We're the Steering Committee for the VicWater Recycled Products' Database project. VicWater, Barwon Water, North East Water, Yarra Valley Water, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and Intelligent Water Networks (IWN) have partnered with Aurecon to research what exciting #recycledproducts are on the Vic market right now, and how to increase their uptake for #contractors and #watercorporations themselves. It's been a great experience working with like-minded passionate people, and discussing how the results will #positivelyimpact the water sector. We look forward to sharing the results once the project's finalised. From left to right: Dr. Lisa Ehrenfried, me, Sarah G., Jill Fagan, Jason Cotton and Stuart Craven (sadly missing Stuart Bladin). #sustainableprocurement #greenproducts #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #drivingchange #sustainability #carbonreduction #victorianwatercorporations #victorianwatersector #circulareconomy

Why don't we talk about stewardship? Everything has become so short-term. There are: - One-year earnings calls. - One-year return on investment. - And KPI's driven by months and quarters. For example, water companies in the UK are driven by shareholder returns on an annual basis. In doing this they have abandoned the stewardship of the environment. They pour sewerage into rivers, but they don't update infrastructure, or build new works that would avoid the worse that they are doing. Stewardship means the responsible management and care of resources, be they natural, financial or organisational. Yet none of this appears in organisations or government annual plans. Long-term matters, generational matters. Sometimes being more punk means doing the opposite of what is happening now. Perhaps it's time to get government and companies to think about stewardship... #bemorepunk #disruptivepunks #stewardship
