Raising standards, raising skylines A late morning train after The International Parking Community (IPC) conference gave me the chance for a wander among Manchester's back streets. I find the city inspiring and a fitting place to bring together a large element of the parking community. As a modern city it's finding ways to evolve the needs of the car alongside terrific public transport. At another level, architecturally, it continues to evolve, making best use and reinventing what works, but not afraid to develop the new where it's needed. Feels to me like a sound metaphor for the parking sector. #parking #carparking #transport #trafficmanagement #publictransport #citylife #architecture #construction #raisingstandards

New York City plans a $152.7 million redesign of Fifth Avenue, transforming it into a pedestrian-friendly boulevard between Bryant Park and Central Park. The project will expand sidewalks, reduce traffic lanes, and add greenery, seating, and stormwater infrastructure. Inspired by iconic streets like the Champs-Élysées, the redesign aims to enhance safety, sustainability, and accessibility. It will include underground upgrades and nearly double sidewalk space, with construction phased over several years. The initiative is expected to boost economic activity and improve public space usability. More details here: https://lnkd.in/e9tvG_Di

While many believe new construction is the key to urban growth, here's why redevelopment is actually the smarter, greener choice. 1. Space Optimization Old structures become modern marvels, maximizing limited urban land. 2. Economic Boost Redevelopment creates jobs and increases property values. 3. Sustainability Focus Retrofitting old buildings is often more eco-friendly than new construction. 4. Community Revitalization Aging neighborhoods get a new lease on life, benefiting residents. 5. Innovative Partnerships Public-private collaborations are accelerating urban transformation. Emerging trends: • Cluster redevelopment for comprehensive urban planning • Green building practices becoming standard • Mixed-use developments fostering vibrant communities As a developer, I'm excited by the opportunity to breathe new life into forgotten spaces. Redevelopment isn't just about buildings—it's about reimagining urban living. What redevelopment project in your city has caught your eye? #realestate #redevelopment

Exciting news in the real estate and urban planning world! As cities evolve post-pandemic and urban cores seek renewed vitality, initiatives like this emphasize the growing role of adaptive reuse in creating sustainable and livable communities. As someone deeply involved in planning and development, I see immense potential for these conversions—not only to address housing demand but to also revitalize underutilized urban assets. Success will require close collaboration among architects, planners, policymakers, and community stakeholders to ensure these projects meet community needs while enhancing the built environment. What are your thoughts? How might office-to-residential conversions impact your city? Let’s discuss! Success continues at new place.
Gleeds' new global headquarters 🏢 After 20 years at New Cavendish Street, our London colleagues, and our global HQ, is relocating. Our new space, at the heart of Fitzrovia, will stretch across three floors and will feature open-plan working spaces and a rooftop with a home for nature. To further encourage collaboration, the lower ground floor will be used as a multi-purpose event space to bring colleagues, business' and industry together. The building, designed by Emrys Architects, is fully electric for energy services, and is in line with our low carbon property strategy. Richard Steer, Global Chairman, shared his thoughts on the move: “As our business continues to go from strength to strength, our new workplace will create a collaborative environment where our teams will be able to support the delivery of our clients’ exceptional projects and help them to achieve their goals. London was the very first home to Gleeds some 139 years ago, and we’ve transformed beyond recognition since then. I can’t wait to see what our business will achieve from its new location.” Read the full release here ➡ https://lnkd.in/egb2ZwMT #GleedsLondon #GlobalHeadquarters #SKAGoldOffice
