Today is National Healthcare Decision Day, which is held annually on April 16th. Do you know that there are times when you may need to make some healthcare decisions but not be able to? This day is designed to help you prepare for those times ahead of time. It’s a day when patients or healthcare receivers tell health professionals what kind of care they want to receive. Healthcare includes the maintenance or enhancement of health by preventing, diagnosing, treating, recovering, or curing illness, injury, or other physical and mental impairment. It’s provided by health professionals and the allied health field. Across the nation, healthcare facilities host National Health Decisions Day as the flagship venue for public engagement. The day is made up of independent events hosted across the country, with support from national media and a public education campaign. Founded in 2008 by Virginia healthcare lawyer Nathan Kottkamp, the goal is to make healthcare decision-making easier, faster, and more transparent for both the public and healthcare providers/facilities by providing simple, free, uniform tools that guide the process.

If your mission-critical storage lacks integrated ransomware protection, what are you doing? And if it does have this protection but you’re not utilizing it or actively planning to implement it, brace yourself for a harsh reality. Imagine being a patient on the worst day of your life, only to find out the ambulance is taking you to a hospital with no access to your medical records, no diagnostics and staff relying solely on pen and paper. Ascension recently achieved a $1.8 billion turnaround in 12 months following a $3 billion loss in 2023, showing signs of recovery. However, it's challenging to bounce back from an estimated $1.6 billion unexpected loss due to a single ransomware event in one quarter (Forbes, 5/8/24). #ransomware #cybersecurity #breach #acquisition #healthcare #ascension #uab #EPIC #EMR #EHR
We are excited to announce that the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved an agreement for the UAB Health System Authority to assume ownership of Ascension St. Vincent’s Health System’s care sites in Alabama. This is an exciting opportunity to combine and optimize our collective strengths. Together we will sustain patients’ access to the highest quality care and give them access to a larger network at a time when other hospitals are closing. For more information, visit uabstv.org.

"I really believe healthcare will bankrupt our country if we don't change the way it is delivered and the cost structure of the way it's delivered." – Alice L. Walton, Philanthropist & Founder of Alice L. Walton School of Medicine At HLTH USA 2023, Alice Walton underscored the urgent need to rethink how we approach healthcare. We shouldn't be waiting for people to get sick - our focus needs to shift toward preventative care and value-based models that prioritize long-term health and wellness over costly interventions. It’s time to invest in the future of healthcare where we measure success by patient outcomes, not just treatments. This means embedding value-based care into medical education now, so tomorrow’s healthcare leaders are ready to drive real change - before it’s too late. We're continuing this crucial conversation at HLTH USA 2024. Join us and be part of shaping the future of healthcare 👉 https://lnkd.in/ewizCR8t #HLTHUSA #HealthcareEducation #ValueBasedCare

In 2019, as a freshman in college, Our founder was immersed in the world of healthcare while working in the field. It was during this time that he began to notice a common thread among doctors, hospitals, and clinics—they all faced significant challenges that made it harder to provide quality care to patients. Every day, he witnessed firsthand the administrative burdens, inefficiencies, and barriers to access that plagued the healthcare system. Doctors were spending more time on paperwork than with patients, hospitals were struggling to manage resources effectively, and patients were experiencing delays in receiving the care they needed. Our purpose at Leechi Health is clear: to empower healthcare providers and patients with innovative solutions that bridge gaps and transform lives. Our vision is a world where everyone has access to quality care, where administrative burdens are minimized, and where the focus remains squarely on patient well-being. Want to learn more?
