The Diverse Law Internship Program started yesterday with the theme: The 21st Century Law Student and Emerging Technologies. Yesterday's teaching was focused on writing a good Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter. It was a really good session and an eye-opener. Below are some of the points I wish to share: • Having a Curriculum Vitae as a student helps you to keep track of your development and growth. It shows you the areas you need to focus on. For instance, you might be very good with taking courses to improve yourself but not so good with work experience ( lack of internships to put your skills to use). • Avoid exaggerating the truth when writing your CV. Do not identify an area of law you know nothing about. • When writing a Cover Letter, ensure to research the firm you are applying to. This shows that you have done your due diligence and you know specifically how the firm will impact you if you are accepted.
