Labelling a #banquetmanager as a #marketingmanager within a company can be a nuanced perspective, but it's not uncommon to see elements of marketing intertwined with the role. Here's why: #customerexperience : Banquet managers often play a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a positive experience during events. This involves everything from coordinating decorations and amenities to overseeing the quality of service provided. Creating a positive experience for guests can indirectly contribute to marketing efforts by generating positive word-of-mouth and repeat business. #brandrepresentation : Banquet managers are representatives of the company's brand during events. How they handle situations, interact with guests, and ensure that events run smoothly reflects directly on the company's image. This representation aspect aligns with the broader goals of marketing, which involves managing and promoting the company's brand. #clientrelationships : Banquet managers often interact closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences for events. Building and maintaining strong client relationships is a fundamental aspect of marketing, as it fosters loyalty and can lead to referrals and recommendations. #Promotionalactivities: Banquet managers may be involved in promotional activities to attract clients for events. This could include showcasing the venue, highlighting services offered, and demonstrating the capability to meet client requirements. These activities directly contribute to marketing efforts aimed at attracting new clients and retaining existing ones. #Banquetmanager #marketingmanager #marketing #hospitalityindustry #traditionalmarketingtasks

Today Chris Silcock, President of Global Brands and Commercial Services at Hilton, shares what he has learned in his journey to overseeing Hilton's 22 brands and the company's pivotal commercial functions, including customer engagement, technology, sales, marketing, and revenue management. "At all times, focus on doing a good job with whatever your responsibilities are,” Chris told me. “There are always opportunities to knock it out of the park and over-deliver. And in my experience, if you do that, opportunities will come your way." Listen to our full conversation here now: https://lnkd.in/gYsWGA_n A few takeaways from our conversation: 1) Diverse Experience is Key Gain experience in various roles within the hospitality industry, both at the hotel level and in corporate functions. This will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the business and make you a more credible and effective leader. 2) Focus on the Job, Not the Title Concentrate on excelling in your current role rather than being preoccupied with promotions or accolades. By consistently delivering exceptional performance, you will naturally create opportunities for advancement. 3) Understand the Business Model Learn about customer demand, segmentation, and the financial aspects of running a hotel. This knowledge is crucial for engaging with hotel owners and ensuring the profitability and growth of the business. 4) Develop Critical Thinking and Listening Skills As you progress and lead functions outside your area of expertise, rely on your ability to listen carefully, think critically, and ask insightful questions to understand the business and add value. 5) Invest in People Skills As you climb the leadership ladder, your role will increasingly revolve around managing people. Cultivate the ability to connect with, inspire, and lead larger teams effectively. 6) Use Behavioral Interviewing Techniques Apply behavioral interviewing methods to assess the credibility of candidates and team members. This involves asking progressively deeper questions to gauge their expertise and fit for the role. 7) Play the Long Game Stay committed to the hospitality industry and the company culture that aligns with your values, even when faced with setbacks or unexpected changes. Long-term thinking will guide you through career challenges and opportunities. 8) Be Agile and Open to Lateral Moves Recognize that career progression isn't always linear. Be willing to make lateral moves or take on different roles as part of your long-term career strategy, especially within a company that you love and whose culture resonates with you. 🎧 Listen to Chris now on the Hospitality Daily Podcast (Apple Podcasts or Spotify) 👉 Let me know in the comments: What resonated here with you? -- If you enjoyed this... > Share this with your network > Follow Hospitality Daily here on LinkedIn so you don't miss more stories like this Thanks! - Josiah

🤝 The Secret Sauce to Thriving Client Relationships in the Hotel Industry 🤝 In the hospitality business, the strength of your client relationships can make or break your success. Whether you’re dealing with corporate clients, event planners, or loyal guests, building and maintaining strong relationships is key to long-term success. But what’s the trick to mastering client relationships? Here’s a breakdown: 🌟 Personalization In today’s world, a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t cut it. Tailor your interactions and offerings to each client’s unique preferences. Whether it’s remembering their favorite room setup, anticipating their event needs, or providing customized packages, personalization shows that you value them as individuals. 💬 Consistent Communication Keep the lines of communication open and consistent. Whether it’s a simple follow-up email, a thank-you note after a successful event, or regular updates on new services, staying in touch builds trust. Don’t wait for clients to reach out—be proactive in your communication. ✨ Surprise and Delight Instead of traditional meetings or follow-ups, consider organizing exclusive events for your top clients. This could be a behind-the-scenes tour of your hotel, a private dining experience with your chef, or a themed event that aligns with their interests. These personalized experiences create memorable moments and deepen your connection beyond the usual business interactions. Building strong client relationships isn’t just about closing deals—it’s about creating lasting partnerships. What’s your go-to strategy for building strong client relationships? Share your thoughts below for your fellow professionals!👇 #ClientRelationships #Hospitality #HotelIndustry #CustomerExperience #RelationshipBuilding
