According to Deloitte AI Institute’s Generative AI and the Future of Work report, structuring your hiring strategy around job titles can hinder organizational agility and innovation as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Instead, by viewing roles within the organization as a collection of shifting skillsets rather than a specific job title, organizations can be more responsive to industry changes, specifically to the rise #GenAI in the workplace. Read more insights from the report in this article by CIO Online, which details how to take a skills-based approach, redefine and recategorize skills, and measure success. https://lnkd.in/eunFCFHs

The future of work hinges on adopting a skills-based hiring mindset to effectively navigate modern changes. As generative AI starts making its mark in business strategies, organizations are having to rethink how they hire, train, and boost skills. Betsy Summers from Forrester points out that while AI will shake up a lot of roles, it also offers opportunities to enhance them. This means we need to focus on identifying, nurturing, and making the most of these critical skills in our teams. Deloitte’s report on Generative AI and the Future of Work backs this up, suggesting we ditch the old job-title approach in favor of a skills-first perspective. This isn’t just about being ready for AI—it’s about thriving with it, staying innovative, and making sure everyone has a fair shot in this new tech-driven world. #GenAI #SkillsGap #FutureOfWork

Generative AI: Challenges and Opportunities for HR and L&D Yesterday I read a recent report by Deloitte exploring the growing adoption of Generative AI in enterprise businesses. I thought it was worth sharing (link in comments) because I believe this has significant implications for L&D/Talent Development teams, offering them exciting opportunities to drive business impact. While many organisations are still in the early stages of adoption, some are achieving success by focusing on VALUE creation. The report highlights the importance of building trust with workers and addressing workforce concerns when scaling Generative AI. Interestingly the top skills for people to master in this change are: 1️⃣ Data analysis 2️⃣ Critical-thinking and problem-solving 3️⃣ Prompt engineering HR and L&D professionals can play a critical role in this process by: 🤓 Developing training programmes to educate employees about Generative AI and its potential impact on their roles. 🗣️ Facilitating open communication to address employee concerns and ensure a smooth transition. 🛠️ Identifying reskilling and upskilling opportunities to help employees adapt to a changing workplace. This is well worth a read because Gen AI is not going away, and as I heard someone say on Bloomberg the other day, "Your job wont be taken by AI. It will be taken by someone USING AI." Just got my hands on an Accenture report on the perception gap at the workplace about AI. Exciting yet full of challenges, really! Only 38% of employees see AI automating more than a quarter of their work compared to 54% of C-suite execs. Kinda makes you think, huh? Generative AI. Now, there's a term that's doing the rounds. It's about AI spawning fresh business insights and ideas. Only 9% businesses are taking a ride on this tech express now. I mean, job loss fears are there, but the potential perks of generative AI are just too hard to pass up. You know what's surprising? Around 63% employees are actually hopeful about AI bettering their work. Tells me we gotta get employees on the AI chat wagon to reduce uncertainty and ramp up understanding. Businesses need to march to the beat of generative AI, not just in tech but within the company vibes too. And you know who needs to be the prime movers in this? Employees. Guide them to work with AI and you've got agents of change right there. With this strategy, business transformation is more than possible; it's practically on the horizon. We could be looking at serious business expansion here. And isn't that what we all want? Point to ponder: Perception gap in AI. Key to action: Generative AI. Game plan: Employee engagement! #AIinBusiness #AccentureReport #EmployeeEngagement

Generative AI is dramatically changing how many companies will do business, so those companies will need to re-imagine many of the processes they've developed that are no longer adequate in an AI-driven world. For instance, organizations must rethink how they approach hiring, training, and upskilling talent. Not many people have the necessary skills to effectively use this technology, especially with more traditional degrees. As a result, we'll likely see a greater shift towards skills-based hiring to find the right people for the job. #GenAI #DigitalTransformation #ProfessionalDevelopment #Upskilling
