Spent an incredible day with The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Honors College exploring Chattanooga’s transit system! 🚍✨ We covered key topics including public transit options (fixed route, electric shuttles, microtransit, Bike Chattanooga, etc), the benefits of electric vehicles, on-street parking strategies, and the history of the iconic Incline Railway. At CARTA's September board meeting, we proudly recognized Mrs. Patricia McKoy for her 9 years of dedicated service on the CARTA Board of Directors, representing Hamilton County! 📢 Employee Spotlight Meet Teresa Smith, the first recipient of our newly renamed CARTA Ambassador Award! 🎉 This summer, Teresa exemplified outstanding care when two 12-year-old twins, participating in our Read & Ride program, accidentally boarded the wrong bus. Noticing their concern, Teresa comforted the children, let them contact their parents, and ensured they arrived home safely. Dr. Lyn Hunter, the twins’ mother and co-creator of the Read & Ride program with the Chattanooga Public Library, praised Teresa for her kindness and quick response, which turned a stressful moment into a positive experience. Teresa’s actions perfectly embody the spirit of the CARTA Ambassador! This cross-trained position involves performing the duties of Incline Conductor, Hoist Operator, and Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing passenger safety, operating the railway’s mechanical systems, and performing routine maintenance on both the railway and surrounding infrastructure. The Operations Supervisor/Dispatcher monitors daily transportation activities via two-way radio, telephone, computer programs, and person-to-person to ensure the transportation of passengers is performed within the set scheduled time.
