🌿 As an agrochemical professional, DFR (Dislodgeable Foliar Residue) analysis is a crucial step in assessing pesticide safety. This method determines the amount of active ingredient residue present on crop leaves, and therefore the amount likely to end up on workers' skin or clothing.   🔬🍃This process requires great methodological rigor, both in the field when taking samples and during the "dislodging" part in the laboratory. An agency tasked with patrolling federal roads in #Brazil has reported a surge in volumes of #illegal #pesticides seized from criminals in the last eight years, including a record 358 metric tons apprehended in 2022 when the country harvested close to 300 million tons of grains. According to information sent to Reuters by the federal highway police (PRF), #herbicide Paraquat, banned in 2021, and #insecticides Thiamethoxam and Emamectin Benzoate are among #chemicals most commonly seized by authorities.

EU #Deforestation Regulation (EUDR): This piece of legislation has been discussed extensively by food and farming bodies over the past year ,and with an implementation date on 1 Jan 2025, there are still many issues still be resolved. In response to this, AIC | Agricultural Industries Confederation has produced an economic impact assessment of EUDR on the UK #feed supply chain. The direct cost to the UK livestock sector would be up to £100m. The full analysis is available to members here 👇 : https://lnkd.in/eU4eNPVe There are still wider challenges too. Not only to UK beef exporters have to be compliant in order to export beef and cull cow products to the EU, but EUDR is also applicable in Northern Ireland. So far NI businesses do not have any guidance on how to comply with EUDR nor has a competent authority been established, as required under the Regulation. This would of course be easier were it not for the fact that a majority of EU member states and MEPs have also called for a delay on implementation of EUDR, because of a lack of guidance and confidence in the IT system that will need to log the required origin data.

Legal Import & Export Checklist (#Brodifacoum TC and #Bromadiolone TC) (1) Check that SDS section 14 (transport information) is “UN 3027, Class 6.1, PG: I” under the UN TDG regulations; (2) #Brodifacoum is 95% Min. and #Bromadiolone is 97% Min., the mandatory quality by law (GB standard); (3) Only be packaged in steel drums, the easiest way to identify, then check the UN marking; (4) Check if the HS code is the legislated 2932209011/13 instead of 380899XXXX (0.005% RB, ready for use); (5) Mandatory licenses for exports: (i) Pesticide Registration Certificate (for producers only); (ii) Extremely Toxic Chemicals License (for both producers and exporters); (iii) Restricted Pesticides License (for both producers and exporters).

The definition of “handle” has been updated per §205.2, and NOP has signaled that most all activity within the supply chain will now require certification oversight: Handle. To sell, process, or package agricultural products, including but not limited to trading, facilitating sale or trade on behalf of a seller or oneself, importing to the United States, exporting for sale in the United States, combining, aggregating, culling, conditioning, treating, packing, containerizing, repackaging, labeling, storing, receiving, or loading.
