We need microbial therapeutics that are effective for everyone. But different people have different natural microbiomes inside of them, which might interfere with the microbes in the therapeutic. What to do?? How can we find microbial therapeutics that are robust, i.e., effective no matter what other microbes the patient naturally hosts? Concerto’s discovery platform not only reveals which microbes can be combined into ensembles for therapeutics, it also directly measures how robust each ensemble’s efficacy is to the presence of other microbes. We factor robustness into the discovery process, increasing the chances that our treatments will work for everyone. For the first time, we’ll be sharing preliminary data on the discovery of ENS-003, a potential treatment for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. Our team has constructed and analyzed hundreds of thousands of microbial communities (so far!) to unravel the intricate workings of the vaginal microbiome and its role in protecting against candidiasis. CEO Cheri Ackerman is set to present our findings at Microbiome Connect (Nov 14, Boston), while Senior Data Scientist Annah Sclafani, PhD takes the stage at the Microbiome Data Congress (also Nov 14, Boston).
