Because judo changes lives. 600,000 people practice judo in France … Compared to around 30,000 in the UK (that’s around 5%) Judo needs to grow in the UK … We need more (3Cs) 🥋Clubs 🥋Coaches 🥋Classes … and we need systems in place to grow consistently. Judo can be the biggest martial art in the UK. And we are looking forward to helping that happen. #judo #BritishJudo

Would you like a judo league in the UK? A competitive league of judo clubs? It’s easy to achieve, but would take 3-5 years … Want to know how? Step 1 - Remove centralisation of athletes (allowing them to train where they want) this would keep more athletes in judo for longer and increase a competitive spirit between clubs. Step 2 - Teach clubs how to grow and maintain their membership (we simply don’t have enough people doing judo in the UK to make it work). There would be other things you would need to do to actually make the league popular (and an event people wanted to see) … But there will NEVER be a judo league without doing Step 1 and 2! #judo #BritishJudo

Our director actively participates in international IBSA competitions to support judo for the blind, known as para-judo, a Paralympic sports discipline. Nusa Lampe, a 6th DAN judo master and member of the IJF Education & Coaching Commission, plays a key role in organizing judo tournaments for IBSA. 🟣 What's IBSA? IBSA stands for the International Blind Sports Federation, which oversees para sports like football, goalball, and judo. JU-JI GATAME SYSTEM Turkey Grand Prix 2016 We discuss with our -18 athletes at Camberley Judo Club the importance of knowing what they are going for in groundwork before they have even hit the deck. Pick a technique; remembering in Judo we are, 90% of the time, attacking an opponent on all fours or flat on their front- choice of technique should always reflect this. Drill the life out of it, continuously attempt it in randori (sparring), begin to work out and find solutions to all methods of defence the opponent summons. Repeat the process. Here, in this clip, there is transition between: 1. Ju-ji roll with same side arm in 2. Ju-ji from guard 3. Ju-ji roll with opposite arm in 4. Ju-ji hold down 5. Ju-ji hold side belly down finish Was taught Ju-ji by Commonwealth Games Champion, Jim Warren, on first moving to Camberley to train full time. Few days ago I finished an advanced course in judo referees by the UAE Judo Federation. Refereeing in sports in general and in particular judo and martial arts requires high focusing and quick decision-making. Such skills also enhance my practical skills as a legal councel and increase confidence in decision-making. Judo is a martial art that carries high ethics. 🥋

Perspectives Judo is a highly complex sport in which the organization of specific training is a challenging task. Gaining an under- standing of the physiological responses to training and competitive situations is critical for designing appropriate training methods. Although the physiological responses to judo competition and to the most used judo-specific training modalities are fairly well known, improvements in training methods will depend on further well-controlled prospective research studies. Because the Olympic sport of judo has been through constant changes over the past decades (mostly because of improvements in athletes’ technical, tactical, and physical levels and because of changes in official competition rules), future research investigations must provide an under- standing of how these changes impact combat dynamics and, as a consequence, how they impact the physiological and metabolic demands of judo combat. Judo coaches must be aware of these changes as their impact on combat dynamics may require adjustments in training methods. #judo #bjj #martialarts #sportscience #strengthandconditioning
