The Global Maritime Forum’s All Aboard Alliance aims to foster inclusivity and equity within the maritime industry while addressing the challenges faced by women at sea. 🌊 As part of its Diversity@Sea initiative, the All Aboard Alliance published a report entitled ‘15 Key Pain Points for Women at Sea’, detailing the vast array of challenges confronting women in maritime roles, from gender-based professional hurdles to social barriers. 👯♀️ As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let us celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in the maritime industry while recognising the formidable journey still ahead. You might have missed it over the long weekend.   Saturday marked the fourth International Day for Women in Maritime.    As a female-founded business, we welcome any excuse to celebrate the incredible contributions of women in the maritime industry! However, we hope that one day, we won't need a specific day to highlight their achievements.   Observed globally on 18 May every year, Women in Maritime Day raises the profile of women in maritime, promoting their recruitment, retention, and sustained employment in the sector. Today, we celebrate the Internatıonal Day for Women in Maritime, a day dedicated to recognizing the invaluable. Observed globally on 18 May every year, Women in Maritime Day seeks to raise the profile of women in maritime, while promoting their recruitment, retention and sustained employment in the sector. Currently, only 29% of the overall maritime workforce and 20% of the workforce of national maritime authorities are women. Women make up less than 2% of seafarers worldwide.

The 18th May marked International Day for Women in Maritime. Though I have only worked in the sector for a short time, I've been consistently amazed by the people working in it. Maritime represents a broad spectrum of roles and a huge number of jobs. There are 646,000 jobs created either directly or indirectly in the sector - the future of maritime relies on a talented pipeline of people. What the International Day for Women in Maritime shows is how key a role women can and should play in that future. Hopefully the celebration of the successes will encourage young women and girls to consider a career in maritime. International Maritime Organization #womeninmaritimeday

The IMO International Day for Women in Maritime celebrates women in the industry on 18th of May. This industry needs the best talent and that means embracing equality and diversity. This Women's Day, let's celebrate the indispensable role women play in the hospitality and F&B sectors. Research by the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance reveals a focused effort on creating sustainable practices within the industry, emphasizing the unique contributions of women to this mission Diageo’s Hospitality Industry Partnership (HIP) Coalition, with members like Accor, underscores the critical role of women in the industry, stating that two-thirds of the global hospitality workforce is comprised of women. Their leadership not only fosters inclusive workplaces but significantly contributes to better financial performance for companies. https://lnkd.in/dfgTVWK However, a wide gap still exists in gender representation in leadership roles within hospitality. Despite women making up a significant portion of the workforce, they are under-represented in senior positions, which impacts not just gender equality but the potential for businesses to fully capitalize on diverse leadership benefits. On this Women's Day, let's recognize and advocate for stronger, more diverse leadership in the hospitality and F&B sectors. By harnessing the strengths women bring to the table, businesses can not only generate higher EBITDA but also champion sustainable practices, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future in hospitality.
