9 Things You Really Need to Stop Bragging About – Disagree with a few of these. Spouses, kids, grandkids, pets and vacations are something you are welcome to brag about. The one I agree with is, “Your vices.” Posting photos of you at the nightclub on LinkedIn is career suicide. Keep it professional. Adding two of my favorites here. First, “I’m So Honored!” It’s fine to have other people sing your praises, however posting your latest award comes across as self-focused. Second, “My Company is SOOOO Awesome!” Actually, they are not. They are one more “for profit” business, and you are a consulting company of one that is on their payroll. When they are done with you…they are done with you. Ask the dozens of senior level executives sending me resumes every week. Many were laid off after 15 or 20 years. 🧐 Not All Recruiters Are the Same! 🧐 Let’s be honest—recruiters often get a bad rep, and sometimes it’s well-earned. But it’s important to remember that not all recruiters fit the same mold. And if I'm honest, I'm a recruiter that has been ghosted and burned by recruiters...so I know the feeling! 😖 💡 A bad recruiter may see candidates as numbers, focusing on the quick match without building a real connection. But a great recruiter? We’re in it for the long game. We don’t just fill roles—we find talent. We build relationships. We connect the dots between amazing people and the careers they deserve. 🎯 As a recruiter for Arvest Bank, I personally handle roles in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma only. I don’t know all the positions our company has to offer—just the ones I’m actively working on. And while I wish I could answer everyone who reaches out, sometimes it’s just not possible. I do my best to respond when I can, but right now, I'm finding talent and deep in traveling to career fairs (it's that time of year), and my calendar is jam-packed! ⏰ 👏 To all the dedicated recruiters out there, let’s keep raising the bar! 🌱 It’s about building a better, stronger talent pipeline—one that’s built on trust and relationships.
