Too many patients suffer complications tied to pregnancy. Ochsner Health has received national recognition for some of its efforts to improve maternal health. We talked with Veronica Gillispie-Bell, MD, MAS of Ochsner about a program to track patients remotely and identify those with high blood pressure who may be suffering complications, particularly after delivery. "Clearly, there's a lot of things happening between delivery and six weeks postpartum, and so this is another way that our moms can stay connected to care without having to physically come into the office," she says. She also offers perspective on how other health systems can improve maternal health.
