I am delighted to share the recent newsletter published by ReLAB-HS, which highlights key insights and contributions from global rehabilitation leaders. I had the privilege of contributing to this newsletter and the policy learning note titled "Integrating Wheelchair Service Training into University Curricula: Learnings from Pakistan." This note along with Global wheelchair service training development review, emphasizes the urgent need for universities to enrich their curricula by integrating wheelchair service training into rehabilitation education programs to bridge the gap in service provision, ensuring that graduates can offer essential mobility services. With an estimated 75 million individuals globally requiring wheelchairs, it is vital to equip future rehabilitation professionals with the knowledge and skills to enhance mobility and improve health outcomes for individuals with rehabilitation needs. Seeing ReLAB-HS and the GRLI alumni making a meaningful impact in their contexts, leading the way toward a rehab inclusive health system, in coming future. SPARK Foundation - South Sudan is a nonprofit organization committed to transforming lives by empowering youth and communities through education, leadership development, and health initiatives. Its mission is to ignite the potential within each individual, fostering growth that drives personal and community-wide transformation. SPARK focuses on four core areas: 1. Youth Empowerment – Developing leadership skills and knowledge in young people. 2. Education – Providing educational resources and opportunities. 3. Health Initiatives – Promoting public health and access to healthcare. 4. Community Engagement – Mobilizing communities to lead sustainable development. Through these pillars, SPARK aims to foster a generation of leaders and build a resilient South Sudan.

Today is a day of partnerships. Not only were we glad to link up with partner organisations in Brusssels at the Global Gateway High-Level Event on Education (@European Commission), there was something else of big importance that took place today. Today, on 11 April 2024 Jurriaan Middelhoff, Ambassador for Youth, Education & Work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken), and Roos Hogenkamp announced the intent for a new initiative that Nuffic is a proud lead partner of: the Africa-Europe Youth Academy! The Africa-Europe Youth Academy is part of the Youth Mobility for Africa Flagship and will function as an umbrella and actively coordinate youth leadership development opportunities across Africa and Europe. The new programme, which is planned to be launched later this year plans to increase opportunities for young people in their diversity to act as leaders and multipliers for sustainable development at social, economic, cultural and political level. This week we launched the second cohort of Africa's greatest Climate Ambassadors Programme. The objective of the Africa Climate Ambassadors Programme (ACAP) is to bring together continental expert leaders (from a wide range of sectors) who can integrate insights on the climate action opportunity discourse in their respective expertise. Good female school leaders = positive learning outcomes and reduced drop-out rates, especially for girls. Yet, globally, women remain severely underrepresented in school leadership.   So it’s great to see Madagascar leading the way in overcoming barriers to a more equitable participation of women. The country has one the highest proportions of women in school leadership positions in sub-Saharan Africa.   Opportunity International's new initiative in Ghana is investing in school leadership which - alongside classroom teaching - is a vital lever for improving education outcomes. Yet we know that women in the northern regions are significantly more likely to run smaller schools than men, and run schools that are less sustainable. That's why we're taking a gender-equitable approach to addressing some of the more acute challenges faced by female proprietors: - More limited access to finance and other resources - Lack of support from key stakeholders - Constraints that make school management duties more challenging (such as insecurity, and restrictive social norms) - Less access to opportunities to develop their leadership skills, or to mentors who can help with their professional development   On our pathway towards fostering equitable and quality learning environments for all, there’s a lot we can learn from Madagascar’s success in leveraging the potential of women leaders as a crucial step in the journey. #APIL #edufinance #eduquality #sdg4
