Thank u to our sponsors, volunteers and donors for supporting our programs and services to those in these photos and many more! Circle of Care for families of children with cancer
In just a few short weeks I’ve raised $2,300 for LLS with a goal to raise $10,000 before Light The Night on October 26th. While this might seem like just a small piece of the $1.7 billion LLS has invested in cancer research, my goal has the potential to provide an impact in multiple ways.
What we raise in the next few days can make a year-long impact for blood cancer patients struggling with the cost of cancer.
I’d ask that you consider making a donation to support my efforts to raise funds for LLS a donation. Here is how your donation has the potential to make a difference:
$500 helps fund one week of LLS-sponsored group support for families dealing with blood cancer treatment.
$1000 provides financial assistance for non-medical expenses, including rent or mortgage, utilities, dependent care, food, and car repairs, related to treatment to a pediatric or young adult patient through our Urgent Need Program.
$2,500 helps fund the cost of nurses providing patients and parents/caregivers with clinical trial search navigation and support through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Clinical Trial Support Center.
If you are available, please join me on October 26th for the Light the Night Walk!
I would greatly appreciate your support as we lead into the final few weeks before we Light The Night on Saturday, October 26th! You can make a tax-deductible contribution through my link, https://lnkd.in/gVejDsWb.
In the past, cancer was a taboo topic within the black community, often left unspoken and individuals battled it alone, hidden from friends and loved ones. The pain of discovering their struggles only at funerals was heartbreaking.
I recall a time when we lost five women to cancer in our community, their diagnoses hidden, and their isolation profound. The Oladele Foundation has transformed this narrative, eradicating secrecy and fostering a supportive environment. Their unparalleled care has instilled hope and resilience, uniting cancer patients and survivors, addressing their needs, and fostering a community of love and support.
Attending gatherings hosted by the Oladele Foundation, I've witnessed the profound impact firsthand. Survivors share their stories, revealing tales of survival and triumph. One such story moved me deeply – a young lady, once silent about her battle, now a survivor thanks to the Foundation's unwavering support.
However, learning about the Foundation's funding struggles was disheartening. The thought of their vital services being compromised saddened me. Their work is indispensable, bringing solace and strength to countless families.
I urge corporations, organizations, and governments to rally behind the Oladele Foundation, ensuring its continuity and efficacy. Allocating a portion of donations, akin to initiatives like CIBC's, would be transformative, significantly impacting survival rates in the black community.
Let us unite in support of the Oladele Foundation, ensuring they can continue their invaluable work. Their contribution, bringing joy and healing to those battling cancer, is truly akin to the healing power of a joyful heart, as scripture reminds us.

As President of Delta Sigma Phi, I’m honored to be part of an organization that’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families battling pediatric cancer. For those who may not know, THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer. THON culminates in a 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon, where thousands of Penn State students come together each February to celebrate the year’s efforts and stand in support of the kids and families impacted by childhood cancer. All the funds raised throughout the year benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital, which ensures that no family with a child battling cancer ever sees a medical bill. It also supports critical research to find a cure.
Our chapter is working hard to raise money and awareness for this incredible cause, and I couldn’t be more proud of the commitment our members have shown. Every dollar we raise will make a tangible difference in the lives of these children and their families.
If you’d like to join us in our mission, please consider donating to our THON efforts and help us spread the word by sharing this post. Together, we can make a difference #ForTheKids!

Can't believe it's been 7 whole weeks since I started 30 Under 30! And 2 weeks since my 27th birthday!
While the new friends and professional development are a huge bonus, the most important and fulfilling part of this program is fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Tennessee Chapter.
It would mean the world to me to see you at one of my upcoming events (June 18th happy hour at Ole Smoky or the celebration on August 10th!), but I would be especially grateful if you would donate to my campaign and help me reach my $5,000 fundraising goal.
Might I suggest $30 to celebrate my Top 30 Under 30 status or $27 for my 27th? Maybe $300 to celebrate the fact that I have 3 more years of being under 30 left?
Some more info on CF and the foundation: Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is over 50. Working alongside the CF community, the CF Foundation has fostered the development of more than a dozen CF treatments and helped add decades of life for people with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
Macmillan Cancer Support is urging you to get involved in its vital work by taking part in Sober October.
Go alcohol-free for the month of October and raise vital funds for this fantastic charity.
What to do:
1. Sign-up to the challenge
2. Ask friends and family to donate to you
3. Go alcohol-free in October
4. Help people living with cancer
What’s not to love about a challenge that helps people while also helping yourself? Giving up booze for the month comes with lots of benefits – both mental and physical - that we here at IMM are delighted to support.
Once achieved, it’s worth considering a longer-term approach to cutting out alcohol.
Dr Louise Slaney, IMM Medical Director, outlines these tips to help make this a more permanent life change:
💭 Understand your motivations
🎯 Set yourself another goal
🚶♂️ Establish new routines
🎨 Incorporate positive replacement activities
🍏 Recognise you are not alone in pursuing a healthier lifestyle

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. And we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of children.
Join us! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
At 17 I was diagnosed with lymphoma just before Christmas. At 19 I relapsed and I was given a 5-15% chance of survival. Today, I'm not just a survivor but a husband, a brother, a son, and a father to three incredible boys. This miraculous turn of events was made possible by a clinical trial funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). My story has become more common as we've donated to cures over the past 25+ years. Many of you are already part of that story, the story of hope for a child fighting for their life - like I was.
I've been fortunate to participate in the Light the Night walk since its inception in Boston 23 years ago. I'm excited to bring my children back this year for the most inspirational night of the year. I'd love your support as many of you have donated for 20+ years.
Why?
