We were pleased to see that what we as a sector have long been calling for was mentioned in yesterdays Kings Speech. This marks a positive step in the right direction for the mental health of babies, children and young people and provides a vital opportunity to strengthen the rights and safeguards of people admitted to inpatient care. It is crucial that the specific needs of CYP are considered thoroughly in this process. Read our full response here⬇️ https://lnkd.in/et7AdEwg

Strategic Family Therapists think and redefine people as being benevolently motivated probably because this view is more conducive to sympathy and interest in the human dramas brought to therapy. This is helpful whether the therapist conceptualization of the problem coincides with the view that is presented to them by the family. This redefinition of the problem brought to therapy can help alter the perspective and help motivate what needs to be done to change the system. For example, a rebellious adolescent may present themself as being motivated by hostility and the desire for independence and the parents may see them that way. The therapist can work with this view and design an appropriate intervention for it or may think that the young person's benevolent concern over their parents leads him to distract them from their other difficulties by providing them with a focus for their concern.

NDIS Price Limit Updates for Psychological Services We’re sharing some important news highlighted by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) regarding updates to NDIS pricing: 📈 Increased Price Limits for Psychologists: The hourly NDIS price limits for therapy supports, early childhood supports, and specialist behavior intervention supports provided by psychologists have increased by 3.9%. 🧠 Exclusive to Psychologists: This adjustment makes psychologists the only therapy support provider group recommended for an increase by the NDIA’s Annual Pricing Review. While this is a significant step forward for psychology, it’s important to note that other allied health providers have not received similar increases. Read more by clicking on the link to the APS' post. https://lnkd.in/gYNCXSr2
In an important advocacy win for psychology and the APS, new hourly NDIS price limits for therapy supports, early childhood supports and specialist behaviour intervention supports provided by psychologists have increased by 3.9%. Psychologists are the only therapy supports provider group recommended by the NDIA’s Annual Pricing Review to receive an increase. While we are pleased about the positive result for psychology, we acknowledge that other allied health providers have not received the same increase.
