New productive forces is a buzzword during China's Two Sessions 2024, emphasizing the key role of innovation. In the past several years, Shenzhen has been famous for innovations. Roberto Azevêdo, former director-general of the World Trade Organization, echoed, "It's a huge international hub of innovation, technology and manufacturing.” He added, “It's truly impressive. And I think it's only going to grow more and more as China connects more globally.” According to the Government Work Report, to pursue higher-standard opening up and promote mutual benefits, China will promote alignment with high-standard international economic and trade rules, and steadily expand institutional opening up. The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) is an excellent example of pursing higher-standard opening up. Azevedo said, the world needs dispute settlement mechanisms that are effective, fast, unbiased, impartial, and also multicultural. The SCIA attracted him for having a high level of internationalization. He pointed out, the SCIA will not be a regional body, but be a truly international and global body.

It is my pleasure to highlight the insights shared by Lord Malcolm Offord in the latest edition of International Trade Magazine. His interview sheds light on the UK's Free Trade Agreements, particularly underscoring the strategic importance of Latin America in our trade landscape. A key part of the discussion revolves around the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (#CPTPP). Lord Offord's recent visit to Chile is a strong indicator of our deepening commitment to this region. The CPTPP, encompassing countries like Mexico, Chile, and Peru, presents significant opportunities for UK businesses looking to expand their export horizons. The interview features an enlightening business case that illustrates the potential these markets hold. It's clear that Mexico, Chile, and Peru are not just markets; they are gateways to broader economic engagement in Latin America. For those interested in gaining deeper insights into how these agreements can benefit your business, I highly recommend reading the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/dT9vQf-P #UKTrade #LatinAmerica #InternationalTrade #BusinessGrowth
